STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Cut It Up

As mentioned previously, I am all about fringe for fall. Bags, vest, boots— you name it, the more fringe the better. Fall is the perfect time to don your favorite fringe.

Don’t currently own any fringe pieces? Are you looking for a budget friendly way to get in on this trend? Follow in the footsteps of these fun and fashionable Fashionistas and D.I.Y.. All you need is a sharp pair of scissors, a piece of chalk and a maxi skirt. Pick a maxi from your closet that you wore all summer and want to reinvent. Using the piece of chalk, draw a line around the skirt at mid-thigh. Using the scissors, start cutting strips one half inch thick vertically up the skirt. Continue all the way around the skirt. Throw it in the wash before you wear it. And viola—a brand new skirt. Don't have time or patience for D.I.Y.? You can purchase a similar looking skirt here. You can pair it with a T-shirt like these Fashionistas or a flannel for a more seasonal approach.

This week, take a hard look at your summer wardrobe and find ways to reinvent your pieces for fall. Sometimes a little D.I.Y. can make all the difference.
