The Vampire Weekend song “Oxford Comma” is one of the most amazing performances I have seen live. The repetitive and upbeat keyboard is hard to ignore, and as the song swells into the chorus, there is absolutely no way not to bob your head along to the beat. Because of this, whenever I hear the word “oxford” (or the word “comma” for that matter), the wonderful song pops into my head, and I inevitably look like an idiot, bobbing my head around to music that only I can hear. Luckily for my sake (and for the lack of embarrassment for the people surrounding me), when I ran into this Fashionista with her black tank, cute skirt and tan oxfords, my head remained still.
Oxfords are nothing new to the fashion scene, especially since I have seen these around campus for months and months. However, there is something to say about wearing oxfords right. I am a simple girl (I can hear my mom and close friends laughing as they reads this sentence), who enjoys simple things (yep, they are all still laughing). And, although that may not be completely true in regards to things that are not clothes, I honestly do enjoy a nice pair of monotone shoes, a basic slack or a racerback tank top. So, when I saw these simple pair of oxfords, I knew they must be photographed.
While there is something to say about having a simple pair of oxfords, it is also nice to have a pair of more exuberant shoes to show your wild side (or as wild as you can get when you have a pair of heeled oxfords). For a more patterned oxford, look no further than Nordstrom. If you are looking for a more unconventional type shoe, this oxford (also from Nordstrom), puts an interesting spin on the somewhat old fashioned shoe.
When you wear oxfords, the level of classiness in your outfit goes up significantly. Wear them well and wear them with pride. And, now, whenever you hear the words “oxford” or “comma,” perhaps you, too, will begin to bob your head to the delightful tunes of Vampire Weekend.
