When first seeing the trend of Oxford shoes, I did not quite understand it. They reminded me more of a higher end-bowling shoe that only super chic hipsters could pull off such as Alexa Chung and Sienna Miller could pull off. As they started circling from the blogs I read to the streets I realized that these ”high-end bowling shoes” could easily be considered the new ballet flats with their ability to be versatile with almost any outfit. I caught this Fashionista outside of Driscoll Hall and was instantly attracted to her ability to pull of the oxford shoe look in such an effortlessly stylish fashion.
So for some reason I have been attracted to the menswear look this past season, it may even be an over kill. I am not sure why or if I can even pull of the trend in general but there seems to be more options than ever to pull this off. There are many different approaches to master the art of the oxford shoe. These also seem to be the next masculine trend after the boyfriend jeans and blazer craze. These shoes can also be itemed with another masculine item or being dabbed in many different looks such as the casual, office, elegant or preppy style.
This Fashionista’s oxford shoes mostly cultivated to the casual look. Her skinny jeans, Free People top and sweater helped draw attraction to the oxfords and would be in agreement with the statement that these oxford shoes are in replacement of the beloved ballet flats.
