Pastel colors are incredibly trendy right now. I personally have spotted a gazillion pairs of mint skinny jeans in addition to shoes and bags with pastel accents. But have you ever thought about donning a pastel blazer? The look has been seen on a select number of celebrity style icons, including Dakota Fanning.
This week’s Fashionista adds a preppy, peachy jacket to her edgy outfit for an interesting ensemble. She begins with a pair of high-waisted, distressed, black cut-offs. All too often I see girls rocking denim cut-offs and crop tops. The look is tired and overdone, so it was refreshing to see this Fashionista mix up her shorts. Her white lace button-down adds in a contrast of both texture and color. Finally she adds in a gold metallic belt, necklace, and pair of sandals for an added hint of sparkle. The look at first reads pretty preppy, but her incorporation of lace and distressed denim keeps it from becoming too Vineyard Vines.
For a more polished look, I might pair a matching pastel short for a suit effect. It is a fun play on the traditional pantsuit, which would still utilize the pastel trend.
