Plaid is a bold pattern that is heavily associated with American style and has been around for ages. Whether your plaid ensemble is prep inspired or Kurt Cobain grunge-esque there is so many ways you can wear this iconic piece. Plaid has also been hitting the runways in designers such as Marc Jacobs and D&G. Alexander McQueen is another iconic designer that featured plaid in his creations. This look used to be reserved merely for simple work shirts but as of lately I have been seeing this pattern in all sorts of outerwear, leggings and even dresses. To create a grunge inspired look it's best to add a pair of chunky boots such as these doc martins.
The best thing about plaid is that it is such a non fuss sort of outfit to sport because it doesn't need any heavy accessories. You can look like you just rolled out of bed in the morning. This week's Fashionista chose to wear a basic plaid multicolored work shirt with a brown jacket. She is also wearing a light brown jacket as well as a pair of riding boots. To get a similiar style of boots I would try any of these from Frye.
Hint: Want to be even bolder? Try a plaid jumper such as this one or a pair of thermal plaid leggings like these from American Apparel.
