STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Rompers on the Runway

Whatever dream or reality inspired Betsey Johnson's Spring 2011 collection during New York Fashion Week, I want to be a part of it. Glinda the Good Witch, sailors, and mermaids seemed like the perfect stream of consciousness as I was looking through the collection online. The two pieces I loved the most from her collection were both rompers, one white laced and the other sailor-inspired with the traditional colors and an embroidered red anchor for some Betsey Johnson spunk. The Fashionista here didn't shy away from being bold with her orange-patterned romper that could easily be seen on a runway if Betsey were to leave some of the vibrant colors at home. Another designer rocking the rompers this week was Marc Jacobs for his Marc by Marc Jacobs collection. Whether you think these rompers are for five year old girls playing hopscotch or for the trendsetting Fashionistas on campus as we do, there is no denying that their functionality is a plus for all ages. It's so much easier to pick out an outfit when you don't have to mix and match too much, although I do love the idea of wearing a crop top over a patterned romper. If you're thinking about getting a romper for your fall wardrobe, try these from Lucca Couture or Topshop.

Hint: Another spring collection I loved was Gant by Michael Bastian who paired many of his pieces with chic sunglasses and reading glasses! Just a couple suggestions you may want to check out are these American Apparel roma glasses or these Nasty Gal Vintage tortoise sunglasses.
