STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Simplicity at its Finest

Simplicity is embedded into our roots and history. As of late, though, it seems like the only way to stand out among a crowd is to be loud and bold. However, some Fashionistas pull off a great look with a simple ensemble. The ever-so-famous Greek philosopher Plato once said, “Beauty of style and harmony and grace and good rhythm depend on simplicity.” I must say, I concur with him. Though I am a fan of bold, interesting get-ups, simple silhouettes and ideas seem to go a long way.

I found this particular Fashionista coming out of FIDM’s student annex, and I was instantly attracted to her bright blue dress. Though her entire outfit is simple, with a basic brown skinny belt and an oversized cardigan, this Fashionista looks pulled together. This outfit is an easy one to duplicate, and is great for a day at school, or even running errands around town. She adds a little flavor to her outfit with her brown strappy wedges, and of course, her summer tan!

Looking for a simple summer dress? Try this particular one, with this no-closure cardigan (in yellow or coral) to add some color to your outfit. To complete this outfit, try a pair of simple sandals. Add your favorite accessories, and you’re good to go! Though I feel I stress adventurous ensembles and bold choices each week, sometimes it is refreshing to take a step back and add a little simplicity to one's life.

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Simplicity At Its Finest

It is easy to aim for simple but to still look over processed. Simplicity is not just the clothes your put on your back but it is also that attitude that comes with it. Today's Fashionista was the whole package. Clad in a plain white T-shirt and denim you could walk past here and think nothing of her outfit, but taking a second look you would realize there is something more, there was thought put into her outfit choice.

Starting from the top was her hat, such a statment piece. Headgear can go right or wrong. This hat is so right and it creates a theme for her outfit, relaxed with style. That hat I chose is a bit  larger but still fits the bill.

Today's Fashionista's sunglasses again are another statement piece. There are not the ordinary square-shaped with rounded edges that we see day in and out. These sunglasses are worn by a wearer that shows show veratile he/she can be.

The denim, again are not just plain denim jeans, looking hard enough you can see that there are small zippers on the outside of the pant leg. Buying denim like these can give you the ability to create different looks with pieces in your wardrobe.

Lastly, this Fashionista added black suede pumps and a black clutch to finish her look.  A great way to make this a spring look is to add a pop of color like this wristlet.
