Spring has sprung — at least in Iowa it has! It is finally time again to dig out our favorite shorts, flip flops and dresses. Trade in your puffy coats, earmuffs and boots for a chic tailored jacket, a unique headband and bright colored flats! Instead of shuffling through the bitter snow and ice to get to class, we now get to enjoy not just the beautiful spring weather but seeing some of the newest spring fashion trends on campus!
This week’s Fashionista started off spring on the right foot. She paired her striped button-up shirt with dark wash jean shorts and her favorite Sperry’s. To finish the look, she tucked her shirt into her shorts and added a cute braided leather belt. Throwing her books into a giant tote bag, she was ready for class! Taking this look from day to night is simple. Trade in your shorts for your favorite dark wash skinny jeans and pair them with a comfy pair of flats. Top off the look with a fun necklace and you are ready for a fun spring night!
This spring I challenge all of you budding Fashionistas to try something new with your style! Wear that funky printed maxi skirt that has been pushed to the back of your closet, or muster up the courage to buy (and actually wear) those bright pink shorts from your favorite boutique. Spring is a time to have fun with fashion and take risks — find your new spring style and rock it!
Walking (running) out of the dorm today, preoccupied with thoughts of midterms and the fact that I slept through my first class, I was immediately met by a gust of wind. This weeks Fashionista is looking on the bright side of Global Warming, literally, by taking advantage of the warm weather and breaking out her coral. She empasizes the pop of color by incorporating different brown materials with a clean white eyelet skirt. Any shade of orange is an absolute must in every element of fashion this season. I, myself, am joining in the trend with my freshly painted nails with “Mad About Mango” nail polish from Revlon (and you won’t believe, it’s scented too!)
Shed the leather and switch up the tall boots for flats or sandals for an easy transition to a summer outfit. When going for both a classy and sassy look you can’t go wrong with stores such as, J.Crew and Madewell. They offer wardrobe essentials that can be incorporated into any outfit. To copy the look of today’s Fashionista use these inspired looks from J.Crew and try an eyelet dress with bold oxfords and a bomber jacket.
Making moves away from the lackluster March limbo, this Fashionisto takes springtime in stride in all the right ways with this refreshingly vibrant look. This classic, warm-colored plaid is classically complemented with crisp white denim and a coordinating fedora. This Fashionisto accentuates the outfit
