The day has come; I can finally say it: Happy May! This month brings a plethora of life joys- a vivid springtime, the end of another academic year, and new, lightweight fashions. As the cliché saying goes, "April showers bring May flowers." After an April of unpredictable (yet typical) midwestern weather, we all know we're bound to experience at least a few more days of trotting through puddles while the flowers begin to bloom along the sidewalk.
Today's Fashionista is ready for warm and sunny spring weather, and she doesn't let a rainy day (or two, or three) dull her enthusiasm. From her sunny color scheme to her hipster bag, this Fashionista has the ideal springtime set down to a T.
Sperry Top-Siders emerged last year, and today they're more popular than ever. These comfy, preppy unisex boat shoes come in a wide horizon of designs and patterns- there's something here for everybody. Sperrys look great with denim, like today's Fashionista has paired together, whether it be rinsed skinny jeans or vintage denim cutoffs.
While I don't recommend substituting a boat shoe for a rain boot, they pull through okay in a light drizzle. If you like Sperry's designs but are looking for a heavy weight boot, you're in luck! Sperry Top-Siders has a fabulous line of classic rain gear as well.
Just because it's dreary outside your window doesn't mean your outfit has to mourn the day. From ponchos to trendy Hunter boots, there's plenty of ways to celebrate a refreshing drizzle. Brighten up your outfit on a rainy day with a fun umbrella. This Fashionista's versatile red and white polka dotted umbrella has the vibe of a retro pin-up gal. Feeling a bit more spontaneous? Check out my favorite umbrellas to date: the floral designs by Galleria. If you're looking for a more humble, traditional design, Burberry's classic camel check pattern is practical and perfect.
The rumors are true, spring is finally here, and it's time to start whipping out the gladiators, floral frocks, and maybe even the string bikinis. However, while May is full of enjoyable moments, it's always important to be prepared if Mother Nature decides to rain on your parade.
