STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: The Little White Dress

Personally, I love an LWD over any LBD, especially in the summer months. A spectacular LWD enhances sun-kissed hair and a golden tan like no other. Little white dresses also lend themselves to be accessorized and specialized in countless ways. This spring, Free People has once again made a stunning, delicate, feminine yet flirty white dress. The Fitted With Daisies Dress is the ultimate summer treat. This textured white fit-n-flare dress features a daisy chain cutout around the waist, creating perfectly feminine and fun elements.

This Fashionista was wearing this Free People dress, so I was immediately smitten with her style. She paired her frock with a lightweight chambray shirt and chunky brown suede ankle boots. Her accessories were reminiscent of the Southwest. The woven bag was relaxed yet special. Her turquoise and silver rings balanced the preppy gold chain bracelets. This Fashionista’s flawless skin and thick side braid topped off the look. This summertime outfit is perfect for the last day of classes or the first day of summer shopping.

Despite rumors, white can work on any skin tone. With the summer heat creeping up, take advantage of all the crisp and classic white dress options out there. Take a cue from this week’s Fashionista and pair a delicate white chiffon tiered dress with a chambray shirt. Instead of the booties, throw on a pair of neon flats to infuse a pop of color. For a more formal affair, be daring in this scalloped peplum dress, featuring a deep V-neck with a tonal mesh inset. This special silhouette does not need layers of necklaces or distracting earrings. Pair this dress with an ultra-yellow jute bracelet and nude pointy-toed suede heels with an ankle strap.

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: The Little White Dress

The Little White Dress has some familiar attributes to its sister The Little Black Dress. It’s a neutral color that goes well with a variety of accessories, easy to transition from day to night, and comes in all kinds of styles to fit every personality and figure. Though unlike the LBD the LWD is more appropriate for some summer lovin’ and summer heat. It’s the perfect get up for the rest of July’s festivities. It’s an easy go to outfit that is light but keeps up with the social scene. From roof top BBQ’S or poolside you’ll be sure to stick out from a sea of Hawaiian shirts. This Fashionista is wearing a soft to touch linen sleeved dress cinched to the waist with layered jewelry and gladiators. The ensemble is refreshing with a hint of romance and is quite effortless. The key to finding the best LWD is go with an investment piece that looks stunning on you. From there branch out with different ways to layer. Daily wear could have a scarf and a denim jacket. The evening is done with a fitted blazer and sparkling statement jewelry. Footwear also plays a part. When trying to stay casual go with leather sandals or metallic flats. In the moment there is some need for some added sex appeal slip into the right pair of nude heels. Have some fun and try something different. Wave this new fashion acronym in the air because The Little White Dress isn’t going anywhere.

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: The Little White Dress

¡Hola Fashionistas! Your resident SDSU Style Guru has relocated to Spain for the summer! Passing the bunches of shops walking out of my residence every day will be great practice in self-control, but that doesn’t mean I can’t lust after the inviting, colorful stores and the trendy customers who frequent them. Europe is a mecca for unique style and just passing through the streets offers an amazing glimpse at the trends in Spain.

Out on these hot, summer nights, I’ve seen countless women sporting crisp, white dresses. This Fashionista chose the perfect one for taking a stroll after dinner. The cinched waist allows for a little definition in the silhouette but keeps the dress from feeling constricting- essential for the 90 degree nights here. Her neutral accessories give the entire outfit a light, airy feeling fitting for summer. For the next few months I’ll be taking cues from this Fashionista, trading in my trusty little black dresses for summery white ones from stores like Topshop, Forever 21, and Urban Outfitters. You can add on some nude pumps and aviators for a simple look like here, but don’t be afraid to jazz it up with pops of bright colors. The little white dress is the perfect fashion canvas so have some fun with it!
