STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: These Boots Are Made For Walking

Everyone at Ole Miss was extremely pleased this past weekend to have warm and sunny weather back, especially since it was Homecoming weekend. I spotted this Fashionista wearing a pair of cowboy boots by Justin Boots. These boots are a staple for any Fashionista's wardrobe because they can be worn with so many different outfits!

This Fashionista opted to wear her boots with an Imaginary Voyage dress that she purchased on the Square. The gray-blue color of the dress when paired with her boots makes the outfit so simple and comfortable, but fashionable. This outfit is perfect for the warm weather, while not being too summery. The great thing about cowboy boots is that they can be worn all year round because they can be worn with pretty much anything.

For the colder months, you can pair your cowboy boots with a pair of skinny jeans tucked in with an oversized sweater. I really like this Loopy Knit Coat by NASTY GAL when worn over a simple tank top and skinny jeans or leggings tucked into cowboy boots. This look is so fashionable, but incredibly comfortable. If you have yet to invest in a pair of cowboy boots like this Fashionista, I highly encourage you to because they last forever and can be worn all the time. Another great boot company to look at is The Frye Company that makes extremely trendy cowboy boots. While these boots can be quite pricey, it is well worth it for any Fashionista because they will be put to great use, and they can also come in many different colors. Whether your getting ready to tailgate for a football game or just spending the day shopping, try sporting a pair of these must-have shoes.

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: These Boots are Made for Walking

One piece I have seen a lot on campus in the fall/winter times these past few years is the perfect pair of boots.  I am not talking about UGGS or rain boots, as helpful as those might be, but “riding boots” have become very popular lately.  No, these boots have literally nothing to do with riding horses, but they are very fashionable and a good additional to many different types of outfits.

This Fashionista was actually the first one I spotted sporting this trend so far the fall, but I would not be surprised if a lot more started popping up here pretty soon.  So I applaud her for being ahead of the game and rocking this look now.   I think her outfit as a whole is very well put together and fashion forward as well.  Her statement necklace, which she scored at a local thrift store, gives her individuality and just adds a little excitement to the outfit.  It was a smart choice to go with a basic grey tee as well, so that it is not too busy or taking away from the necklace.  The hunter green oversized jacket is very chic, and just holds the outfit together, and looks very comfortable at the same time.  This Fashionista was also very smart in wearing a pair of skinny jeans so that she could tuck them into her fabulous boots and showing them off.

I love the detail on these boots as well; there is a little braiding of the leather on the sides and over the top of the foot that just adds flair.  In searching for my own pair so that I could emulate this Fashionista I found that there is several, maybe even too many, places that sell these types of boots depending on how you want them.  Frye Boots, which Amy Levin just hosted an event with, has a line of boots dedicated just to “Campus” wear, which is perfect for class.  I also found that Fossil has quite an extensive line as well, and they put a lot of little detail into their boots if you want that added effect to your boots.  If you are going for the more casual look Target offers a couple pairs that cover all of the basics but are still very chic.  I think that riding boots are the perfect shoe for this fall and can be worn with almost any type of outfit; it is just up to the Fashionista to decide what she wants in her pair!

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: These Boots are Made for Walking

As autumn approaches, I'm often faced with the difficult decision of what shoes to wear.

England's weather is changeable as ever and I often find myself leaving my flat on a rainy Monday morning sporting a trench coat and riding boots and by noon the sun is beating down and I feel self-conscious and uncomfortable in my wintery attire. The key is to wear footwear that can withstand the torrential downpours that London offers, but still remain cool and summery when the sun reappears.

This Fashionista has got autumn footwear down with her bright blue Dr. Martens. Not only are they practical in the temperamental weather conditions, they add a splash of colour to this Fashionista's basic black blazer and leggings ensemble. Though the bright blue Dr. Martens are no longer available, there are loads of new colours and designs to choose from. If you've got some student loan cash to splash, I suggest investing in a pair of floral 1460 boots available on the Dr. Marten website. They're bound to liven up even the most cosy and boring winter outfit.

If your still waiting on your student loan, there are plenty of more affordable alternatives to imitating this Fashionista's colour splash footwear. I am in love with the collaboration between Liberty of London and Nike. There are 16 crazy designs exclusive to Office. The collection includes classic high tops and low top trainers perfect for sprucing up any autumn wardrobe.

I think autumn always calls for a new pair of Converse. Whether they're leopard print, classic white or my personal favourite — metallic gold leather — Converse make the perfect addition to an autumn wardrobe.

Take inspiration from this Fashionista and use Dr. Martens, Nikes or Converse to liven up a jeans and T-shirt ensemble. The more daring Fashionista's might try channelling early 2000s Lily Allen and throw together trainers with a vintage tea dress like this one.

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: These Boots are Made for Walking

Since the first day I came to South Carolina, I remember spotting these particular boots everywhere (while taking note that I needed to buy myself a pair immediately). They represent the traditional tailgate style of the SEC – no, I’m not talking about Sperry’s or Rainbows – and should be a staple piece for any Fashionista; I’m talking about cowboy boots. Just because you’re wearing these timeless shoes, doesn’t mean you also have to apply a Western-inspired outfit! Instead try giving this traditional footwear a modern feel by pairing them with an unexpected style. I love how today’s Fashionista styled her chocolate color boots with a dainty, floral skirt she found at a thrift shop. If you’re looking for an authentic style boot, try this Dan Post cognac pair from Zappos.com. For a more expensive (but well worth it) and urban version of this trend, look at Frye boots.

Although this Fashionista chose to style her boots with a vintage look (this skirt from Urban Outfitters screams cute and feminine) you can mix and match many different styles. Try wearing this pair of black Steve Madden boots with a striped trapeze top tucked into high-waisted shorts from ModCloth. By adding an interlinking metal chain necklace, you can create a monochromatic nautical inspired look. Cowboy boots are an item worth investing in; whether it’s tailgate attire, everyday wear for around campus or a day to make a fashion statement, these boots are essential for any South Carolina Fashionista!
