STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Tuck It In

The Boston humidity is one for the books this summer! Not only is my air conditioner my new best friend, but it seems like no outfit is right to handle the city’s intense heat! It’s easy to just throw on a pair of shorts and grab a light tank before you leave in the morning, but don’t get the weather get your style down, lets get creative!

This week’s Fashionista caught my eye in her high-waisted short shorts and tucked in lace top over a simple brown bandeau. Not only is she perfectly prepared to handle the high temperatures of the city, but she looks chic doing so. I never used to be a fan of the tucked in shirt, but this summer I totally love it. Whether you are on your way to work or just out for a day in the sun, a tucked in top instantly adds sophistication to your look and when the weather is this humid a little sophistication is a must.

The art of tucking in is really not an art at all, it is totally easy. A tucked in shirt will give your outfit that polished feel, so I recommend wearing a top like this silk safari shirt tucked into a pair of shorts like these lace shorts. To further define your shape, add this market-weaver's belt. When the weather is really on fire, try this silk sandbank tank tucked into these Grey Antics High-Rise Denim Short. To get the same look as this week’s Fashionista, try adding a lace trim bandeau under a sheer top tucked into your favorite pair of jean shorts. For a little added style and a lot of sophistication, get inspired by this week’s chic Fashionista and tuck it in!

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Tuck It In

Got a pair of cute high waisted jeans or a fabulous buckle to show off? This is the week to tuck it in. Look sophisticated and well put together for a family gathering or lunch with your girlfriends at the local café. Who would have thought a combination of polka dots, ruffles and a bow would be too much? For any outfit that is simple and eye catching that can speak for itself, I caught this Fashionista up to part, in a cute polka dotted chiffon top, tucked in with a bow-focused belt. Faded flare jeans with a pair of matching polka dotted peep toed pumps. I remember when polka dots were a fashion no-no for a while but since its trending back, make the best of it. Check out the shoulder ruffles, giving a little lift to a slender figure, forget about sucking it in, just tuck it in and have a little flow at the waist. Check out a button downed version at J.Crew. Have complimenting blues throughout while still bringing back the vogues of the 80’s jazz and blues days.

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Tuck it in

With the unbearable heat we have all been experiencing lately, I for one have found it difficult to throw anything on in the morning. Loose. Tight. I don't know what feels better when 95 degree sun is burning down my back. This Fashionista choose to keep cool by wearing the tucked in look. Yes, I always rave about everything oversized but this time I think I will side with wearing things a little more form fitting. I love how today's Fashionista accentuated her petite frame by wearing her floral camisole tucked into her cut-offs. Cool, stylish and ready for the grind of summer school, take note from this Fashionista when choosing your outfit this week.

DIY: Cut-offs are one of those pieces that you can absolutely do yourself. Hit the flea market for a cheap pair of baggy denim, grab some scissors, draw a line at where you want to cut, snip away and toss in the wash for the distressed frayed look at the bottom. If your lazy (or love the thrill of a good second hand shop)- thrift stores are a great spot to pick up used vintage Levi's that will do the trick.
