For me to say this Fashionisto was calm and collected would be an understatement. He walked through campus knowing that whatever ‘it’ was, he had it. I knew I loved his dress sense right away. Something he was wearing definitely had ‘it’ but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Then through my camera lens, it jumped out at me!
You might be surprised to hear it wasn’t his shiny effect, perfectly fitted, metallic grey puffer jacket (Uniqlo) or his Porsche Design duffle bag, although I’m certainly not going to pick fault in them. But rather, ‘it’ was his watch. His white Alessi watch – I was fixated on it. My Fashionisto’s watch is not like one I’ve seen before. I was hooked on its graphic geometric design and futuristic feel.
Watches are everywhere this year. If there is one accessory that will make you stand out, it’s a watch. Where do I begin… There is the Toy Watch, the Breo Watch, the Casio G-shock watch, the Casio Baby-G watch, even the Nixon watch. These are all get-you-seen watches. They come in candy colours, neon brights and there are even oodles of vintage gold watches out there for those of you with a different agenda. And I daren't miss out the massive plus being that they don't just look good, they actually have a purpose – telling you the time day and night, resulting in no need for you to rummage into the depths of your pocket or handbag for your mobile. Bonus! But, generally, one must admit, watches have all gone a bit retro. But, we can all do retro, even if it’s just for this year.
Hint: With all this watch talk, one crucial thing still remains make sure whichever watch you choose, it represents you and you feel comfortable wearing it on your wrist. Don’t simply pick it because it’s up-to-the-minute!
