For me to say this Fashionisto was calm and collected would be an understatement. He walked through campus knowing that whatever ‘it’ was, he had it. I knew I loved his dress sense right away. Something he was wearing definitely had ‘it’ but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Then through my camera lens, it jumped out at me!
You might be surprised to hear it wasn’t his shiny effect, perfectly fitted, metallic grey puffer jacket (Uniqlo) or his Porsche Design duffle bag, although I’m certainly not going to pick fault in them. But rather, ‘it’ was his watch. His white Alessi watch – I was fixated on it. My Fashionisto’s watch is not like one I’ve seen before. I was hooked on its graphic geometric design and futuristic feel.
Watches are everywhere this year. If there is one accessory that will make you stand out, it’s a watch. Where do I begin… There is the Toy Watch, the Breo Watch, the Casio G-shock watch, the Casio Baby-G watch, even the Nixon watch. These are all get-you-seen watches. They come in candy colours, neon brights and there are even oodles of vintage gold watches out there for those of you with a different agenda. And I daren't miss out the massive plus being that they don't just look good, they actually have a purpose – telling you the time day and night, resulting in no need for you to rummage into the depths of your pocket or handbag for your mobile. Bonus! But, generally, one must admit, watches have all gone a bit retro. But, we can all do retro, even if it’s just for this year.
Hint: With all this watch talk, one crucial thing still remains make sure whichever watch you choose, it represents you and you feel comfortable wearing it on your wrist. Don’t simply pick it because it’s up-to-the-minute!
If time is everything, then surely a watch is an essential item in any Fashionista’s wardrobe.
Caught in the park on a chilly January afternoon, this young lady, who was wrapped up warm against the biting Manchester cold, had no intention of scrimping on style points in this statement men’s watch.
The details of the black snakeskin leather strap and gold edging makes this accessory a classic timepiece, which can be thrown on when dashing out of the house to give a tasteful flash of classiness to any outfit. Roman numerals on the watch face give the watch a vintage feel. It is perfect for toughening up a ladylike dress or adding elegance to a T-shirt and jeans.
Analogue watches have made a swift comeback in recent years. Once the choice timepiece of Manchester, digital Casio watches have been usurped in favour of more traditional styles. Perhaps it is that the unashamed technological look seems clumsy in comparison, or it could be because classic styles simply complement more looks. For whatever reason, if you are going invest in one timekeeping piece this spring, make it a mannish vintage style.
This particular men’s Rotary watch doesn’t come cheap, although more purse-friendly alternatives are available from almost any high street chain. A particular favourite is this brown and gold number from ASOS. Those with wages (or loans) to blow might want to consider this Michael Kors tortoiseshell beauty. Be careful if you decide to go for an authentic vintage watch. Make sure it is in full working order before buying, as I myself have been disappointed more than once on getting home to find that my new (non-returnable) bargain find is out of action, not just out of battery power.
Back when we were all in middle school, it was incredibly trendy to have a cell phone – and we loved them so much, we would take it out of our Jansport backpacks every few minutes to simply “check the time”! Ever since then, our generation of Fashionistas carry cell phones as the ultimate accessory, and has completely ditched the watch as the default timepiece.
However, my style advice of the week is to “watch out”, as inspired by this Fashionista who is heading to class in a pair of khakis, a cardigan and a classic silver watch. This season, women’s watches are following in the footsteps of men’s by having thick bands and large faces. One decorated with oversized numbers keeps it looking casual enough to wear this jewelry as the everyday staple accessory it once was. This Fashionista is layering hers on the outside of the sleeve of her cardigan for all to see the trend of the time!
Hint: Since watches are a functional fashion piece, they can be worth the long-term monetary investment. Take a look at the bedazzled face of this GUESS watch, or go sporty chic with this bright Armani Exchange timepiece. For all the fashionable music lovers out there, wear this Turntable watch from Metropark, perfect for outfits during the day and at night.
The best accessories are the ones that go with everything that you have in your wardrobe. Everyone has a go to piece of jewelry, hat, and handbag and even though they probably have used it most likely everyday it still retains that special quality. They are interesting with a sense of character enticing polite attention. It has a classic touch to stand any test of trendy madness. Most importantly it has to define you and be the cherry on top to a full look. The best accessory to lead you in a timeless direction is none other then a watch. To put it simply it’s something wonderful to have on your wrist that has a literal function…to tell you if you’re late or not!
Today's Fashionista rocked a darling gold watch with her boyfriend blazer, button skirt, and mountain boots. She looks well balanced with a sense of femininity with soft details of menswear. Like I had said before go for pieces that reflect you and watches have a library of different styles to fit your fashion criteria. If you really want that romantic touch with darling detail go for an antique jeweled watch. You can be a kid again and actually have a face on the face of your watch witha animated looks. When it comes to be more eccentric and electric try for neon colored watches to get that brightness. No time like the future so you can get the first look with very modern surreal watches. In the end I think the best grabs are the ones that have simple appeal like a brown croc leather strap style. Nowadays you can also find clockwork in different forms like a wrap bracelet, ring, and even necklaces. It’s quite easy when choosing make sure it fits, make sure it looks good, and make sure you love it.
Watch out because these classic accessories don't need you to tell them it's their fashion hour.
