When it comes to college dressing in the Midwest, we all know what outfits are expected from us. Understated blouses, denim, ballet flats and crossbody bags, for example, are my not-trying-too-hard but not-being-too-careless personal norm. And although I have a strict no wearing sweatpants to class policy, I rarely go above and beyond with my daily wardrobe. As much as I love behind-the-scenes model looks and sky-high, double-staked heels, I'm all too aware that I actually don't live in Tokyo or Paris.
So you can imagine my delight to find this Fashionista, whose collected cool and towering heels proves there's no such thing as too fashion-y in Bloomington. She did it right by layering tops, wearing skinny jeans and adding chunky heels, all void of color, for the overall look. The result from this Fashionista, who could be Blake Lively's twin, is a noteworthy outfit that not only achieves the perfect balance for university wear, but also looks forward to fall fashion.
Master a similar look by starting with a pair of drool-worthy heels, adding neutral staples and dark skinny jeans from there. Don't be afraid to double up on bags (the Olsens do it all the time), like a small bag for a wallet or lip gloss and a bigger one packed with class supplies. Finish it off by walking with confidence. The streets are your runway, after all.
