The combination of dropping temperatures outside and the approaching finals period forces most students to abandon the green and hunker down into the corners of the library. In a sea of people who throw on a pair of sweats under their puffy jackets and trudge around in Bean Boots, it is refreshing when I see one of my peers merging style with comfort to hit the stacks.
This Fashionista utilizes the comfort of an oversized flannel shirt but manages to keep her shape by belting it at the waist. Her tights (lets be honest, they just are more comfortable than jeans) are Free People and come highly recommended. Try a cable knit version for a little more warmth. Then, she tops the flannel dress off with a black Gianfranco Ferré blazer, which lends structure and a hint of polish to her look. Madewell carries a more tailored tuxedo-inspired blazer in heather gray, which provides a bit more texture. The short leather boot that this Fashionista is wearing, as opposed to a longer one, is a flattering choice as it maintains the length of her legs. Her oversized cashmere scarf is a finals period must-have, as it can double as a shawl and is certain to keep you warm and cozy in the library. The Masha Archer cuff that she wears on her left wrist is not fussy or too bulky and helps finish her look while staying in tune with the overall grey/brown palette of her outfit. Finally, her Brooks Brothers gray tortoise shell glasses practically blend in with her features but contribute a quirky touch to her overall ensemble.
Hint: Belt shapeless dresses above or on your waist to elongate your lower half and draw attention to the thinnest part of your middle.
