STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Working the Dress

In a town where events fluctuate from the comfort necessary for hardcore library sessions and quiet pub drinks to the most formal of black tie attire, it is no wonder that the casual, versatile dress lies at the heart of the St Andrews gal’s wardrobe. With every day involving peaks and plunges in temperature and a variety of establishments of differing dress code, something feminine yet practical is a clear winner.

This Fashionista has embraced this piece, adding into the mix the recent trend for all things equestrian, flaunted regularly by the preppy masters at Ralph Lauren and Hermes, and seen more locally at TopShop with their fabulously Nineties horsey sweatshirt a few weeks back. Teamed here with worn denim and canvas flats, the dress is perfect for day – but imagine it styled up for interning at the office, with a cute patent shoe or a sharp blazer, or even with a platform heel and chunky jewellery for night…that’s what we call a major investment! Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie are my first calls for such workability.
