STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Comfortable, Casual and Chic

As the famous fashion designer, Yves Saint Laurent, once said, “Fashions fade, but style is eternal.” To be considered fashionable, you don’t need to be wearing the hottest trends and labels. Fashion is a habit and this habit is established by the uniqueness of each individual. A well-known Fashionista has clothes that stand out in a crowd, but also has clothes that are fashionable ordinary. For me, these clothes are “comfy-casual” and are ones that define our everyday style. It is, essentially, who we are.I describe these clothes as “comfy-casual” because when you wake up in the morning these clothes are the clothes that you “prefer” to wear. They are the foundation of your overall style. Anyone can put on a trendy, fabulous dress and look stunning. However, the true test of a Fashionista is if she knows how to look gorgeous without looking extravagant.

Your comfy-casual clothes are designed to fit you, not the other way around. If your searching for what your “style” is start out with the basics: color, material, shape. When I asked this Fashionista what her 3 basics are and she said she likes to wear all neutral colors, cashmere, and a mixture of tight and baggy clothing. She described her overall style as “simple chic.” So, find your basics. What colors complement you? What fabrics do you feel most comfortable and confident in? Following your fashion style is much more important then following the latest trends.

Remember, you are wearing the clothes. Embrace your fashion sense and beam with confidence!
