STYLE ADVICEOF THE WEEK: Defying Denim

Denim dates all the way back to the late 1800’s, made famous by Levi Strauss. Jeans became a staple item in every American's closet in the '50s. Denim is seen and worn in many different ways, such as: jeans, jackets, T-shirts, shorts, backpacks and the list can go on and on.

This Fashionisto is sporting a denim vest that he made himself. He took a denim long sleeve shirt and put his own twist to it and made it a cut-off vest. It has a western look with a motorcycle feel. This vest can be worn during the summer since it is so lightweight and it can even go into the fall and winter by layering it with a long sleeve shirt. It is very versitale and can be worn with almost everything. This vest also symbolizes the teenage rebellion, during the '50s that helped make denim popular.

Denim has and always will be in style. For the ladies Free People makes a super cute, super easy vest that could be layered with anything.  And for the males, Urban Outfitters sells a durable and fashionable vest made by the original creator, Levi Brand Jeans.

Denim has been seen in Fashion Shows for over 37 seasons and has provided many looks. It has been seen in white, tie-dye, colored, animal print and so many more prints and styles. Designers are taking the essential material and re-creating it over and over again.

Some denim trends we wish may have never happened, but a denim vest is a great addition to any Fashionista's or Fashionisto's closet.
