I am so excited to be part of the CollegeFashionista style guru team for the summer 2011 term. While last semester I was reporting on Fashionista/o spotlights, this summer I will be located in New York, and I will be specializing on trend reporting. New York City, one of the fashion capitals of the world, has street style that always amazes me. One of my favorite activities here is to simply people watch, and to see each persons’ creative choice of an outfit. New York is more open and accepting to an individual’s style compared to Iowa, where I feel people tend to dress similarly to one another. In pursuit of a career in fashion, I have two internships this summer; one with Self and another with the designer Cynthia Rowley. In both internships I will be exposed to different aspects of the fashion industry, and I am eager to see which areas spark my interests and talents the most. As for trends for the summer, I am excited to see the pops of neon, neutral on neutral, the maxi dresses and skirts, crochet, and many more that the stylish New Yorkers send my way.
