My name is Bianca Franchi and I’m a junior at the University of Iowa. I’m a Communication Studies major and I plan to receive my certificate in Managerial Entrepreneurship. I’m so excited to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista this fall!
One’s own fashion sense is unique, expressive, and has no boundaries whether it is influenced from peers, celebrities, or the models and designers featured in magazines. As Oscar de la Renta has said, “Fashion is a trend, style is within a person”. I find it important for one to dress in what makes them feel good and what’s flattering. For me, that tends to be skirts, flowy tops, blazers, and anything high-waisted usually in neutral or blush tones. While it may be somewhat difficult to define my style (especially because it changes so much with the weather- got to love the Midwest!), it’s invigorating to discover both trendy and timeless pieces.
While it didn't become apparent that I wanted a career in fashion until I got into college, I’ve loved seeing the affect that fashion has on people. Ever since, I was interested in working in the fashion industry (though it's probably a good thing I'm no longer sporting butterfly clips in my hair or rubber bracelets up to my elbow circa my pre-teen years). I love admiring fashion anywhere from models on the runway to the streets of Iowa City. That said, I can’t wait to share what fabulous Fashionistas and Fashionistos I find on campus!
