Style Guru Bio: Calley Edwards

Originally from Portland Oregon, I am in my final year at Emory University in Atlanta. I am studying Art History and French while running on the cross-country and track teams for my school. When I am not logging miles or memorizing dates of paintings, I spend my time obsessing over everything fashion. For me, fashion is its own art form. Designers are artists full of innovation and creativity and use fabric as their medium. I hope to write my senior thesis on the role of fashion in Art History.

As a west coast girl at heart, my unique style stands out against the sea of preppy here in the South. My style can be described as schizophrenic at best. It lies somewhere in the middle of 90’s grunge, ultra-fem, and nerdy-chic but is always evolving as trends do. My favorite celebrities for style inspiration are the Olsen twins and Kate Moss. I also can’t help from relentlessly stalking numerous fashion blogs and watching every fashion related television show from Project Runway to Fashion Star.

My interest started young after reading each of my mother's fashion magazines cover-to-cover and playing dress-up with my little sister. After working alongside two local Portland designers in high school, I knew I wanted to be part of the world of fashion one day. I am excited to have the opportunity to be a Style Guru and hunt for my campus’ style standouts. College campuses are always places of evolving fashion
