Style Guru Bio: Christine Flammia

In seventh grade, I was all about the graphic T-shirts. Those slub, capped-sleeved messes of cotton read things like, “Brunette is the new blonde!” and “Juicy girls have more fun.” and, my personal favorite, “Your boyfriend is staring.”

What my brace-faced, frizzy-haired, incredibly awkward tween-self failed to realize was that fashion is such a beautiful thing because it speaks for itself. No sequined, Comic Sans font necessary.

After falling in love with New York City, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and James Dean, my current style finally began its much needed development. My outlook on fashion stems primarily from my desire to be put together. How will the rest of my life fall into place if I can’t even get an outfit to flow cohesively? Personally, preppy styles always feels the most classic and unified. Madewell, Rugby and Kate Spade top my list of favorites. I can always count on their pieces to be reliable, classic and straight up adorable. I wear things I feel good in, which is precisely what I love about fashion: when you feel good, good things will happen. And if they don’t…at least you look cute, right?

This fall I will be a sophomore at Boston University, working towards a dual-degree in Magazine Journalism and Hispanic Literature and Culture. I love reading and writing…a lot. This is my second semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista and my first semester as an Editorial Intern. I will be writing for the ALL ABOUT BEAUTY section, a slightly daunting task, but one I plan on grabbing by the Bobbi Brown Blender Brush. My personal beauty routine usually veers towards the simpler side- mascara, eyeliner and blush- so I’m eager to expand my beautification expertise.

I’m coming for you, ombré- and lipstick-styled Fashionistas/os! This time I’m looking for you to inspire me – and to make sure your boyfriend keeps staring.
