Style Guru Bio: Emma Nicholson

I’m going into my third semester with CollegeFashionista and will be interning as both an Editor and Style Guru. I started as an Editor this fall and have really enjoyed the position; it has allowed me to learn a tremendous amount about both writing and editing. I’ve also loved reading through posts by other Style Gurus while I edit.  Learning about fashion from different schools has inspired my own style.

I’ve noticed an evolution in my personal style since I started as a Style Guru last June. While I still stick to a mainly neutral palette and fitted, classic silhouettes, I have started to add a few edgier pieces into my wardrobe. With graduation approaching I’ve been conscious about purchasing quality pieces that can take me from university into the working world. I purchase my classic items from slightly higher end stores and add in affordable, trendy accents from stores like H&M.

The highlight of this past semester’s internship for me was covering the runway shows at Toronto's LG Fashion Week. As a member of the media, I was able to have a behind-the-scenes look at the shows and meet other members of the media and fashion industry. This was a valuable experience because I was able to not only see how professional photographers and reporters work, but also gain insight into the many career options available in the fashion industry.

I am excited to continue learning about the ins and outs of the fashion industry in my third term as an intern with CollegeFashionista and am looking forward to reporting on the hottest trends at UWO!
