Style Guru Bio: Gregory Babcock

I am Greg Babcock and I am a junior at Syracuse University in Syracuse, N.Y., majoring in Photography and International Relations with a concentration in the Fashion and Beauty Communications Milestone offered through the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

Growing up, I was always no more than a short train ride outside of New York City and would often travel there with my parents to explore the diversity that the city has to offer. Considering Syracuse’s upstate N.Y. location, I am never too far from New York City and can say that, while I do not reside there currently, I draw a large amount of inspiration from all of the individuality and creativity that the city has to share.

In my own personal style, I think I am split down the middle. When I am going to class or out on the town, I love taking inspiration from classics like bowties, skinny jeans and sleek oxford shoes. On the other side, when I DJ or spend time with friends, I like to wear bright colors, large sweaters and basketball sneakers. I think this duality in my style allows for a combination of inspiration and taste to help create different alternatives to everyday street fashion.

As a CollegeFashionista Style Guru, I am excited to both capture and interact with street Fashionista/os all over my campus. Street fashion could be considered the greatest form of style: it is how we present ourselves to everyone in the world, how we are everyday. Through those style choices, we show others what we like, what we listen to and what we want to be.
I look forward to being apart of the CollegeFashionista team and am excited to have the opportunity to share the style of my campus with other Fashionistas/os.
