Hello Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Jasmine Anderson and I am currently a junior in Communication, with a concentration in Mediated Communication and Technology here at the University of Illinois. After graduation, I plan to enter the field of broadcast journalism. Fortunately, I have acquired a position that allows me to exercise my passion for writing and fashion. I’m beyond thrilled to serve as your 2011 Style Guru for the spring semester!
My love for fashion emerged at the tender age of 6 when my mother allowed me to play dress up in her closet. Over time my caliber of fashion has transformed due to my extensive analysis of what I like to call “the eclectic fashion culture”. You see, fashion to me is more than just the must-have of the season, or the ready-to-wear trends. Instead, it is the simple idea behind a garment that inevitably generates change amongst our culture. In other words, fashion politics have revolutionized culture as we view it. My goal is to add substance behind the trend I quest for on the street. I plan to give my readers advice with a historical twist to increase their fashion literacy. Avante Garde is my style, and I invite you to join the movement!
