Hey there, fellow fashion lovers! My name is Kasey Muraszko and I am one of your Style Gurus for The George Washington University. I’m a sophomore and intended Marketing major, born and raised in Los Angeles with an incurable obsession when it come to fashion. This is my first term as a Style Guru and I cannot wait to get started!
Let me start off by telling you a little bit about my background in fashion. During my senior year, I started my own fashion column for my high school newspaper that gave advice on what was fabulous in fashion at the time; a high school version of CollegeFashionista, if you will. Also, I spent this past summer as a marketing intern at Warner Bros. Records and got to see a wide variety of fashion from a record label perspective. Looking back on these experiences, I couldn’t help but try to purse two things that I love dearly: fashion and writing. Becoming a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista was the perfect solution!
Over my past year at GW, it is safe to say that my style has evolved from the traditional L.A. chic to a crazy mixture of vintage, preppy, classic, rock, grunge, and bohemian. Eclectic to say the least. You can find me drooling over the Fall 2012 Lilly Pulitzer collection or intently browsing the latest from AllSaints Spitalfields. To me, fashion is so much more than a cute outfit. It’s the way you express yourself. It’s an instantaneous mirror of your personality and mood. Similarly, I’m all about making a statement. Whether it’s accessorizing with neon or spicing up your outfit with a bold print, statements define personal style. For me, my most common statement is a pair of oversized sunglasses (circa Jackie-O in the 1960s). They can be paired with practically any outfit and give off that sassy, diva-like vibe. Besides my sunglasses, I am in love with anything and everything Chanel and think that there is no such thing as too much vintage.
I am beyond excited and honored to be reporting from The George Washington University to you guys. Look out for my STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK articles every Monday!
