Hi ya'll – my name is MacKenzie Green, and I'm a senior in my last semester at The University of Miami. I'm double majoring in Broadcast Journalism and Sports Administration. Although my majors my seem a far cry from a Style Guru, believe me – I truly love fashion and style. I recently competed at Miss USA representing the District of Columbia, and through that experience I further solidified my love for fashion and developing my own personal style. My mother was a model for Chanel in Paris for several years; through her I learned an appreciation of European sensibility. That upbringing in style mixed with my own eclectic mix of country-club-and-equestrian chic, as well as the hip-hop opulent bling style gives me a unique view of style and fashion. I would classify my style as exotic, seductive, classic and elegant.
I draw my inspiration from many different sources. Katherine Hepburn, Sophia Loren, Bridgett Bardot, Susan Fales-Hill, Pharrell Williams, Andre Leon Talley, the Great Gatsby, La Dolce Vita – and the list goes on and on of where I draw my style inspiration from. I believe there is a distinct difference between style, fashion and just clothes. What you wear is an extension of who you are and should evoke an emotion. I also love unique and different things because I never like to see my style on someone else that I pass on the street.
I'm so excited to be working with CollegeFashionista this semester. I'm excited to bring my unique voice and perspective to readers.
