Style Guru Bio: Marlee Giglio

Hey Fashionistas/os!

My name is Marlee Giglio, although I’m a true Bostonian at heart, I have moved to New York State to attend Marist College. I am studying the fabulous major of Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Business. To come to a school where most girls have an option to major in fashion attracts a plethora of Fashionistas/os to my campus and that’s why I love it!

My biggest inspiration towards fashion would be found upon my travels. I love traveling all over the world and observing how those places have an obvious trend that maybe your country has not picked up on. The best part about traveling is discovering one-of-a-kind pieces. Street style inspires me more than high fashion, because noting on what my peers are wearing is a realistic encouragement that I too can rock their attire too.

For the first ten years of my life I attended a Montessori school, where anything but the norm was accepted. For picture day I wore some crazy sweater, a tutu, polka dotted tights, and cowgirl boots. After my first day at a prep school, my style has transitioned to a calmer version of my younger years. I love the beach, and those colors are apparent in my closet, with influences shown in cozy fabrics and flowy styles as well. I love throwing on a bunch of neutral hues then adding a piece of neon to spice it up.

My campus is filled with a mix of styles from all over the country, and I look forward to showcasing all of the Fashionistas/os walking about!

Style Guru Bio: Marlee Giglio

Hello, I’m Marlee Giglio. I’m from Cambridge, MA and I study at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. I am majoring in Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Business. I am excited to gain out of the classroom knowledge. I live down the street from everything that goes on at Harvard University and I am thrilled to be able to talk to and photography the fashionistas/os there this summer.

I love fashion because I love seeing how everyone alters a fashion into one’s own personal style. I like how one person may wear a scarf around their neck but a different person will wear the same scarf on their head or tied to their bag. I am interested in what my friends are wearing and how they are translating the current fashion.

I absolutely love to travel. I would say that from my travels in Europe a lot of my inspiration for outfits comes from the essence of those places. I am very inspired by the islands off of Greece. The deep blue colors of the rooftops and pure white paint on the homes along the Santorini coast portray a simplicity and carefree life that I attempt to translate in my outfits.

I love Cambridge because it is one of the most diversified towns around. Because there is a large amount of people coming from abroad, the fashion around campus is hard to put into one category. I also love Cambridge’s’ small boutiques, thrift stores, gorgeous sites on the Charles River, and the restaurants.

I also enjoy photography, hanging out with my friends, reading, adventures, summertime, people watching, going out to dinner, bicycling, and learning. I love Cambridge, and I am excited to show off one of the most gorgeous and historic places and all of the Fashionistas/os that are apart of it.
