Hello beautiful and fabulous Fashionistas! My name is Molly Briggie. I am currently a junior at the University of Iowa majoring in Business Administration and Marketing. I hope to someday become a merchandise buyer for a high fashion department store, but until then, I’m just a small-town Iowa girl who lives and loves everything about fashion. Fashion to me is….well….everything. It is everywhere–on the Internet, in architecture, in movies, malls, and libraries, on music and album covers, in books and magazines. It is all things, big and small—whether it’s the massive billboard spread you pass each day on your way to work, or the small but brilliantly-designed business card you hand out to your potential colleagues. It’s in everything we do–from the workout room to the football field, or even at church on Sunday. And lastly, it’s in everyone. Every single culture possesses it, yet it is unique to each and every individual. In terms of what fashion means to me, Coco Chanel couldn’t have said it better when she said, “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” If one simply looks around, it is easy to see the overwhelming impact fashion has made on our world, and I couldn’t be more excited to share the influence that fashion has made on the University of Iowa campus with each and every one of you!
