My name is Rebecca Collins, and I'm going to be a senior at Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia where I study Fashion Design and Business. When I'm not in the fashion studio, I'm busy snapping the street style fashion of Philadelphia. However, this summer I'll be snapping the color infused fashions of Miami interns.
My experience in fashion ranges from Moore's rigorous program to working at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week. I've worked as a stylist at Forever 21, as well as a stylist and assistant at high-end boutiques in Philadelphia. My independent blog acts an honest, unedited and comedic insight into what it's like to be a fashion student in a large city. This summer I'm working as an intern with the playful, ethical and transnationally inspired line, Pitusa. These experiences have all allowed my personal style and eye for fashion to grow. This will be my fourth semester writing for CollegeFashionista and I couldn't be more excited to see what Miami has to offer.
I have a lifetime of knowledge of style advice. When I was a toddler I broke my ankle wearing plastic high heels while running in a grocery store. Lesson learned: don't run in heels. A few years later I stubbornly insisted on wearing a gorgeous velvet dress to an outdoor ballet in July. Lesson learned: dress according to your environment and sometimes your mom is right. My twenty years of trial and error have provided me with the tools to continue developing and enhancing my own personal style, which is the most important thing to have for all Fashionistas. You can't buy style and my goal is to help all my fellow Fashionistas further develop their own individual style, as I further mine. I can't wait to see how the Fashionistas of Miami dress professionally while dealing with the extreme heat.
This summer I'm looking forward to tanlines, comfortable Pitusa neon and beachy inspired looks. I can't wait to share with you all the fun street style Miami have to offer!
