Style Guru Bio: Sammy Luterbach

I believe that fashion and the design process are so much more than what unbelievers assume they are: superficial, wasteful and frivolous. Fashion is not a symbol of money, rather it is a symbol of art and design that you wear. Fashion is not for unintelligent clones that “love clothes;” it is for for bright individuals who know Coco Chanel was right when she said, “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street; fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”

I have been celebrating this belief daily with CollegeFashionista for more than two years now, and will continue to do so this semester as Head Style Guru for the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Social Media Intern for the website. I have been presented with enchanting opportunities through CollegeFashionista that have allowed me to gain skills, contacts and experiences that have already proven to be inexplicably helpful in my life and pursuit of fashion.

CollegeFashionista occupies a large portion of my heart; even after reporting weekly on Madison’s street style some time, I am still completely entranced by the amount of style I find oozing out of the systems of my fellow classmates on a daily basis. People assume that the Midwest doesn’t have style, but Madison’s eclectic array of residents constantly proves these people wrong. Fashion lives and breathes in this city, and I hope to convey this to you in my posts. I will be reporting on beauty trends found on these stylish streets for the first time this semester, and I’m thrilled to discover this new facet of fashion in Madison.

Fashionistas and Fashionistos, I wish upon you all things sparkly, leopard print and budget-friendly with a few giant rings sprinkled in. Get ready for some fabulous fashion!
