Style Guru Bio: Toby Milstein

Hi, everyone! I’m Toby Milstein and I am a sophomore at Barnard College, Columbia University. As a native New Yorker writing for CollegeFashionista, I will be doing what I have always done: searching the canvas of the city streets for what’s in, and what’s turning heads. With my experiences from Marie Claire (where I was a Beauty intern) and my access to Mercedes- Benz New York Fashion Week shows, it is my mission to provide the best style information and advice.

Each season, I try my best to incorporate new styles and trendy colors into my fashion palette, but my fashion compass points towards the classics: a little black dress(LBD) an elegant silk blouse, tall black pumps, and a fitted blazer. At the moment, I am a romper fiend, so hopefully this trend won’t fade too quickly. I would describe my personal style as feminine chic with a hint of preppy during the day and a dash of sparkle at night. Although it’s so hard pin-point all of my favorite labels, a few of them include: Rebecca Taylor, Joie, Missoni, Shoshanna and Marchesa (even though my college budget does not allow for all of this!) With regard to fashion icons, Blake Lively, Sarah Jessica Parker and the beautiful, Jackie Kennedy Onassis are definitely my top three.

When I am not busy spotlighting the chic and quirky aspects style across the city, I can be spotted on the Barnard College campus writing for student publications, reading music blogs, and spending time with my friends on the steps of Low Library (our version of the Met steps!)

It is such a pleasure to be working for CollegeFashionista this year both as the Head Style Guru for Columbia University and also as a Marketing intern.  I am truly looking forward to shedding light on the New York “look” with all of you loyal readers.
