STYLE GURU OF THE MONTH

My role as Head Style Guru of CollegeFashionista has given me the opportunity to work with some of the most ambitious young talent in college right now. My team of 200+ Style Gurus not only intern for the site, but also have become peers of mine that I respect and admire for their creative abilities. Our Style Gurus usually remain behind the lens rather then in front and I have decided to create a monthly feature spotlighting a different Style Guru and what inspires their daily life. This month's feature is Megan Puglisi from West Virginia University. We chatted about everything from CollegeFashionista to her favorite hang out spots at WVU. I hope you all enjoy learning about Megan and what she looks for in a Fashionista/o.

CollegeFashionista: Favorite part of interning for CollegeFashionista?

Megan Puglisi: A love for fashion has always been apart of who I am since the day I took my first steps in a pair of pink jellies. Growing up I was never quite sure about how to find which aspect of the fashion industry I wanted to pursue. My favorite part about being a CollegeFashionista is that I have been able to gain a magnitude of experience by studying other CollegeFashionista’s editorials and meeting people on campus with brilliant styles that has led me to finally finding my niche.

CF: Best street style shot you have taken?

MP: TREND: New Age Preppy is definitely the best style shot that I have taken so far. I remember passing the Fashionisto on the street and turning around seconds later to grab his attention and capture an amazing photograph on a nearby staircase. I have learned to never let a walking masterpiece pass by without a fantastic photograph.

CF: When you grow up you want to be……?

MP: My dream job entails writing trend editorials for a fashion magazine. My favorite magazines to read are Vogue, Elle and Marie Claire, and someday will make my dream a reality.

CF: Where are you on a Thursday night?

MP: Usually posted in a seat at the library with my nose in a stack of grueling homework assignments…I know, how boring!

CF: Best hangout around campus?

MP: It seems as though there is never enough time in the day for my life. This semester, I have been the busiest and most hard working that I have ever been in my entire life. When the weekend hits, I love to rewind and celebrate getting through yet another week with my friends for a jumbo margarita at our favorite Mexican restaurant.

CF: What inspires your wardrobe choices?

MP: My wardrobe choices are usually based on what I see in my favorite magazines. I love clipping out eye catching items and tacking them to my “dream board” that hangs above my bed. My “dream board” is where I place things that I work hard to accomplish. I am also never afraid to approach the wearer of an exceptional piece to find out where they found it so that I can encompass something similar into my closet.

CF: Motto you live by?

MP: See the glass as half full. Find the positive side of any given situation. It’s there – even though it may be hard to find. Know that everything happens for a reason, even though you may never know what the reason is. Steer clear of negative thoughts. If a negative thought creeps in – replace it with a positive thought.
