STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Statement School Bags

Sometimes it can be a challenge to have a cute matching school bag that goes with your outfit, especially when you have so much to bring with you. I’ve noticed that some people rely on the traditional black backpack, which is still more reasonable than the rolling suitcase looking ones — unless it’s Louis Vuitton of course.

The Fashionista this week is wearing a big metallic bag that seems as if she is using it like a typical bag for everyday use. Inside of her bag she actually has all of her school stuff, including her computer. Bags like this are perfect for school: on the outside they look fun and fashionable, but you wouldn’t be able to tell that it’s a school bag until you peered inside.

When looking for a fun school bag vs. a traditional backpack, there are basically no limits. You can have a Tuesday/Thursday bag and another Monday/Wednesday/Friday bag, or just one that is big enough to fit just a binder so that then you can still wear it out after school.

Binder size ranges from about eight inches to 11 inches, therefore you should check out your bag’s details before purchasing it. If you are looking for something that can me worn everyday and can go with everything, get a black or neutral tote. If you want to do something more fun for the spring and summer, experiment with colors like pink.

Sometimes I would rather just wear whatever bag I use everyday, which is my beloved Louis Vuitton Damier Speedy 30. It can still fit a lot inside and I just have to hold my binder, which I don’t mind. If you’re looking for more of a shoulder bag, one with just barely enough space to fit a notebook is perfect if you’re going to carry it anyway. Another type of bag I love are the adjustable cross bodies, especially the lime green MBMJ this season, which is to die for.
