The sunshine has been surprisingly consistent these first few weeks back in Ithaca for fall term, and the Fashionistas of Cornell are taking full advantage of it (knowing that it will be snowing by October). Bejeweled gladiator sandals, colored shorts and flowing chiffon tops seem to be the collaborative go-to’s, but this Fashionista stood out on a Sunday afternoon after the first week of classes. The daisy print on her dress is cheerful, to say the least, but the black background makes it atypical for a sundress and allows her a little edge over the usual yellows and pinks we see in summer. The cut is also something beyond your basic empire or natural waist, with a slight retro vibe that adds charm.
This Fashionista accessorizes wonderfully with the denim vest, making a very feminine look instantly cool. The buttons are a harsher element to contrast the floral pattern and tie in with the buttons on the dress for a cohesive look. Her mint-green bag pops against the black dress and references the season’s trendiest color, while achieving its practical, carry-all purpose. The natural hair and beaded bracelet tailor the outfit to daytime wanderings on campus and add to the relaxed, summery feel. Finally, the neutral flat almost disappears between her legs and the sidewalk, lengthening her whole appearance and gracefully topping off the look.
