TREND: Get Wrapped Up In It

As the sunny days dwindle and fall weather sets in, it’s easy to feel fashionably disheartened by staying hidden in the same overcoat day after day. Times like these call for accessories! And what better way to add a personal touch to an outfit than a scarf? Not to mention it will keep your neck and chest warm from the blistering winds of the North Sea. Scarves are the ultimate polish on an outfit, adding instant elegance and personal flair. As there are many ways to tie a scarf, how you wear one can say a lot about you, or your personal mood of the day. I personally couldn’t live without my black Pashmina, a wardrobe staple and an immediate outfit upgrade on a night out. Feeling bolder? Scarves are the perfect means to add a pop of colour to brighten up in the dullness of Scottish fall weather, and can also be a great way to play with different patterns and textures. This Fashionista dons a map themed scarf, loosely draped over a blazer making it a statement in itself. Paired with skinny jeans and ballet flats- who wouldn’t want to steal this look?

Hint: Melagrano on South Street has a nice collection of scarves, and Shopbop.com has endless styles- I’m putting YARNZ’s scalloped lace scarf on my Christmas wish list!

FASHION NEWS: Show Your School Spirit!

Well, after what seemed like the longest summer ever, school is finally back in session and that means several things, late nights, hours of homework, and Duck Football Games! One of the best ways to show your school spirit is to check out the campus bookstore. The spirit shirt this year is as usual a yellow T-shirt, that says Go-O! It is only seven dollars, so head on down to the book store and pick up the new shirt and show some school spirit! Get ready to cheer as loud as you can at the games and have fun! TIP: If you wear a jean skirt with Oregon baseball socks you can really spice up your outfit!

TREND: Great Lengths

With summer coming to a close, the chance to wear summer trends is almost over. Maxi dresses were a major style this summer. Tie dyed ones were huge and followed the hippy inspired look we all wanted to show. This Fashionista decided to go for a more glamourous look by pairing her simple black dress with a statement necklace.

TREND: DENIM CUTOFFS

I absolutely LOVE this Fashionistas cutoff denim shorts with the pockets sticking out. They are the perfect pair of jean shorts to pair with anything from a blazer to a white T-shirt, like pictured here. She spiced up her outfit with a draped thin sweater and tons of bangles and rings. An easy outfit to throw on when you are running late to class! To update it for fall you can even throw on some black tights (shredded or not) underneath the shorts!

Hint: Check out this pair from Urban that you can make yourself! Take a pair of your old jeans and cut them into shorts! Then take a cheese grater and scrape the edges for fringe and the front for a distressed worn-in look! The throw them in the washing machine with bleach to really make them rock!

TREND: Go Bold

Fall has finally arrived! Leaves are beginning to turn colors and the breeze is getting cooler. A change in the weather always brings about hot trends and fresh ideas on campus. What fall trend am I currently looking forward to? BOLD tights! I have been excited for this one since the Fall/Winter 2009 runway shows debuted in February. Marc Jacobs paired his brightly colored line with black opaque tights, BCBG Max Azria dazzled the crowd with metallic gold tights and Cynthia Rowely showed embellished tights. It is easy to see that nearly anything goes this season.

These runway looks may not be suited for day to day wear, but we can take some inspiration from them. Black opaque tights are always a go to, but if you want to

FASHION NEWS: Taking Woodstock

Everyone has gone through an obsession with peace signs, tie dye and the whole culture of the 60’s. Rebelling against society and defining yourself as a person was the general motto seen during this era. Debuting this Friday, September 28th in theaters is “Taking Woodstock” a film based on the memoirs of Elliot Tiber and his role in making 1969’s Woodstock Music and Arts Festival and the fame that formed along with it. Not only will the music heard in this movie be powerful, but the fashion involved will surely be nostalgic. Although, in our current fashion world the 60’s is making it’s way out the fashion cycle and

Let’s hear it for the BOYS

College Fashionistos: I know you all could never dare part ways with your boat shoes-wearing this footwear to class, when grabbing fast food with your boys and even out to the bars. That’s why I felt it was neccesary to suggest some new styles and modifications to get you to toss your worn out pair and simply upgrade to a fresh set for the school year…trust me your girlfriend will appreciate it!

Hint: This style echoes August 1950s in the Hamptons when paired with socks that can

FASHIONISTA OF THE WEEK

This Fashionista is packing up her summer gear and getting ready for fall fashion..trench coats, tights, black oxford flats and best of all riding your bike to class. I love the quirky accent of her white framed glasses as she poses naturally on an evening stroll home. One of my favorite things about fall is scavenging through my closet and finding all last seasons pieces that are in need of TLC. So put that on your to do list and if you happen to be in a need of new tights for your collection here are some everlasting pairs…budgetsplurge!

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Kicking it into HIGH gear

While sifting through magazines and doing my usual fashion reading, I continuously come across celebrities, fashion icons and trend watches reporting on the knee high boot style for fall. Initially, I despised this look but the more and more I see it I am falling in love with it. Now trust me, I understand the difficulty of wearing such an item when out at bar on a college campus but honestly why not? I think everyone needs to dare to be a little different this school season and wear things outside your typical comfort zone. Don’t go spend your entire intern salary on these statement boots, but there a plenty of reasonably priced knee highs that will be a fun addition to your current collection. Wear this look with a standard white shirt dress you already own and black tights to really give off that biker feel!
