Mastering the Under-Eye Eyeshadow Trend

Recently in the beauty industry, it’s been all about bringing in bright colors into makeup looks. The previous makeup trend used to be all about neutrals and shy colors on the eyes, but recently people are becoming more welcoming of bright, popping colors on the eyes. More specifically, popping colors on the under-eye.

It’s all about keeping the top eyelids clear and bringing that pop of color to the lower lash line. This instantly makes your eyes pop, sort of in the same way an eyeliner makes your eyes pop.

People are bringing in bright colors such as yellow and pink on their lower waterline and actually blending out the color to the lower lash line. Now, the question is: how does one achieve this look without it watering down into your eye creases? I’ve found a way that avoids that smudged appearance that tends to come off as messy.

1- Prime the eye. First thing’s first, make sure the area is clean to ensure the color is in its purest form. Prime the under eye with concealer to make the under eye a blank canvas. This ensures that the colors will not water down into the eye creases and ensure that the colors last longer. Think of the concealer as a glue that keeps the eye shadow in place.

2- Eye shadow. Now you can apply the colored eye shadow to the lash line—ensure that you use a small brush to keep the shadow as close to the lower lash line as possible that way you avoid it from watering down.

3- More eye shadow. Add about two layers of eye shadow to keep the color popping and intense. If you ever decide to use a shimmer shade on the lash line, make sure to spray some fixing spray on your brush before you dab it into the eye shadow. Again, this keeps the shimmer in one place and intensifies it.

There you have it, it’s as simple as that! This is a creative way to bring in a touch of color to your makeup look if you are someone who usually shies away from using bright colors.

Fashion Inspiration from the Yves Saint Laurent Exhibition

I recently attended the Yves Saint Laurent: The Perfection of Style exhibition in Richmond, Virginia. Yves Saint Laurent was a trendsetting designer that became a global phenomenon for his original and creative style. As he so wisely stated, “Fashions fade, style is eternal.” He was a pioneer for models of color, and he wasn’t afraid to play with gender representation in his designs. Saint Laurent also popularized ready-to-wear high fashion. Here are some ways you can get fashion inspiration from his designs and incorporate them into your wardrobe.

PHOTO: Kristi Mukk

1—Primary colors. This trend is making a comeback, so get ready for bold and confident looks. If you’re afraid to play around with color, try bringing it into your wardrobe gradually by experimenting with accessories such as red shoes or a blue bag. I also love the look of a primary color paired with denim or black. For a more dramatic take, try scarlet or cherry red looks as they are trending on the runways this season.

2—Embroidered and jeweled statement pieces. Embroidery has been around for a long time, but it has become a huge trend again recently. Choose an embroidered piece as the statement of your outfit and build the rest of your look around it. Whether it be an embroidered shirt, shoes, or jeans, be sure to keep the rest of your outfit simple. If you like making a statement, try jeweled or metallic pieces that will make your outfit shine.

3—Color blocking. This mod shift dress is an iconic style from the ’60s. There are two ways to create color-blocked outfits: you can either choose complementary colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel, or you can choose analogous colors that are next to each other on the color wheel. Choose hues that are complimentary to your skin tone, and complete your look with neutral accessories.

4—Menswear-inspired fashion. Saint Laurent created pantsuits and tuxedos that were tailored to women. Don’t be afraid to incorporate menswear looks into your style. When wearing a pantsuit, wear a feminine blouse underneath like the polka dot bow blouse pictured above. You could also experiment with a pantsuit in a feminine color such as the pinkish-beige ensemble above. Don’t forget to finish off the look with a stylish heel and feminine accessories.

How to Create Your Dream Dorm

“Back to school.” Some people dread hearing those words. They immediately think long classes and endless homework, all that makes us remain in a summer mindset forever. But for me, I immediately think about my new dorm and all of the fun ways I’ll style it and make it mine. Your dorm or bedroom is where you should be able to go and get away from the world—that happy little corner that solely belongs to you.

One way to really spice up a room is through fun, decorative pillows. If you chose to opt for more of a neutral-toned bedspread, this is a must, as statement pillows can add a fun and unique flair. Just look for whatever matches your personality, such as a sweet floral or a cute animal. Pillows like this boho one will really brighten up a dorm while keeping it looking cozy and inviting. Another fun idea is creating a pillow bed on the floor. This will give friends a place to sit or provide you with a little nook for doing homework or just chilling out.

Another fun way to decorate your dorm is through creating a very personalized and organized desk. Odds are that this is where you’ll be spending a lot of time due to the plethora of papers and assignments you’ll have to complete. For this reason, you want a desk that makes you feel comfortable and is adorned with what expresses your personality. This can be done through fun pieces, such as this desk toy or fun little plant dog. By creating a workspace that inspires you, you’ll feel more motivated and will thrive to get assignments completed.

As another form of inspiration, it is always fun to create a mood board—a board that is filled with your current obsessions, goals, and inspirations. By having this board, you can work towards being your best self and completing all of your goals.

By creating an atmosphere that most represents you, a sense of peace and protection will be created as this is the room you’ll be spending the next year in. Decorate it with everything that excites and inspires you and create a dorm room that all your friends will be jealous of!

How to Shine Like a Rainbow After a Storm

Summer is the season for festivals, concerts, cookouts, and exploring. Any activity under the sun is a great chance to spend time with loved ones while soaking up some vitamin D. Unfortunately, gray clouds sometimes interrupt the fun, literally and figuratively. With warm weather comes more revealing clothing and not everyone feels comfortable enough in their own skin to get out there and enjoy the heat. This look is the perfect confidence booster that embraces a woman’s shine and stunning personality: a rainbow after a storm.

The main focus of this look is the flowy, maxi dress. This piece is very flattering with the natural waist and long skirt. Its colorful, vertical stripes are eye-catching and bring an element of joy to the simple maxi dress shape. However, the best part of this dress is how dynamic it is. The flowing skirt bounces and twirls as you move; so run, spin, and dance! Find delight in how your body moves: your dress is celebrating with you.

I paired this stand-out piece with a pair of brown wedges and pink sunglasses. The understated, warm, brown shade of the shoes complements the bright colors in the dress. The added height helps give that extra boost of confidence and encourages you to stand tall and proud. Pink sunglasses were the cherry on top of this look. While the dress is a statement in itself, these sunglasses are funky and adventurous. As they protect your stunning eyes, their unusual shape adds a touch of daring to the look.

Finally, I topped the look off with my favorite accessory: a smile. Fashion has always been a way for me to find my confidence. If I dress like a boss, I am a boss. However, this is only half the battle. You need to believe you are as beautiful, unique, and fun as you look, so let yourself shine. A smile reminds you that you are as wonderful to behold as a rainbow after a storm.

The Perfect Outfit to Show Off at the Beach

Everyone needs a little sun during the warm summer days and the best way to do it is somewhere where there are palm trees and sand. A week full of candid pictures, animal floats, and sitting in the sand all day? Yes, please! Sometimes while in the hot Florida sun, it is difficult to find a fashionable summer outfit to keep you from not being too hot while still being a Fashionista. During the day it is all about bathing suits and sunscreen, but as the night comes along, the Fashionista comes out! I came across this beauty who was wearing the perfect summer outfit.

Let’s start with her shoes! They are black wedges with a gold zipper accent. Everyone should own a pair of these since they are so versatile. They are neutral so they match everything from jeans to a dress. Comfort is also a must with shoes at the beach. This Fashionista has a lot of walking to do from getting ice cream to shopping.

I also noticed how perfect her accessories were. I was drawn to her choice of mixed metal bracelets. On one wrist she is showing off a gold and silver rose bracelet which goes perfectly with her outfit. On the other, she has a couple Alex and Ani bracelets, which are so simple yet trendy. Sunglasses are also an absolute must while at the beach. In my opinion, they go with every outfit and are such a cute addition. She is also wearing a black hair tie—the importance of a hair tie is huge. Everyone needs to have one either on their wrist or in their purse, especially in Florida where the weather can be unpredictable. Sometimes a messy bun can be cute, too!

Her outfit is what really caught my eye. I would describe it as a business in the back and party in the front. This beautiful off-the-shoulder maxi skort romper really captures the beach feel. It captures many warm floral tones which coordinate perfectly with the beach. Maxi skort rompers are becoming popular and come in so many different fabrics and colors according to your event. It is unique and super trendy as well. It could be dressed down a little with just sandals, but worn with the wedges it dresses it up for going to a nice beach restaurant. Since it is a maxi dress in the back, it flows very well and is breathtaking for the beach. This beachy outfit is a definite head turner!

Everyone needs a little fun in the sun during warm summer days. Do not be afraid to wear something that most people will not—that is what makes you, you! When you are at the beach next time, show off your perfect outfit and tag us on social media at @Cfashionista.

These Are the Top 8 Sweet Treats You Can Enjoy at Walt Disney World

Orlando Florida’s Walt Disney World is a magical destination. While you’re exploring the parks, you’ll be overwhelmed with the amount of scrumptious snacks to choose from. To help your Disney experience be the most magical, here are the top eight treats you can find at the Disney Parks. Let’s count down to the very best treat you can munch and crunch on!

8—Disney Lollipops.

Lollipops with a variety of characters are available at all parks in flavors like cherry, orange, grape, raspberry, watermelon, and original. The multi-color candy inspired my outfit. A pinstriped skirt, a sugar skull Darth Vader shirt, Vans high-top shoes and fluffy pastel earrings are perfect for a trip to the confectionery.

7—Main Street Popcorn.

Popcorn is a classic staple at Walt Disney’s Main Street. You can buy it fresh or prepackaged with a plethora of flavors, such as caramel, kettle corn, cheddar, confetti, sriracha kettle corn, parmesan garlic, red alaea salt kettle corn, truffle, churro, and a new Disney guest’s favorite: maple bacon. If you are staying in a Disney Resort Hotel, you can enjoy Disney popcorn in the comfort of your room with the Pop Down Mainstreet Gift Basket for $40.

6—Mickey Rice Treat.

Rice treats are in the shape of Mickey’s head and measure a whopping 8 inches. They are available plain or with chocolate and decorations depending on the season. The buttery crunch of this treat will satisfy a crowd.

5—The Frozen Night Blossom.

This new nonalcoholic drink only available at Animal Kingdom in the new Avatarland is a mix of limeade combined with apple and desert pear flavors finished off with passionfruit boba. This drink is super refreshing and sour. It tastes like the Unicorn Frappuchino which debuted April 2017 at Starbucks.

4—Frozen Banana.

This is my personal favorite treat for beating the heat. Diced nuts and a chocolate layer over a frozen banana is surprisingly delicious.

3—Anna’s Birthday Cupcake.

This cupcake is sweet, huge, and covered in edible glitter! What’s more magical than that? This birthday cupcake can only be found at Epcot at Norway.

2—Specialty Candy Apples.

Caramel apples can be found at all Disney Parks in a variety of styles. Apples are covered in candy favorites, caramel, chocolate, nuts, rice cereal, marshmallows and cookies. This delicious Minnie Mouse apple is packed with chocolate and caramel goodness. At Goofy’s Candy Company at Disney Springs, you can even create a customized apple. Apples are available at anytime of the year decorated as Disney characters and holiday themes. The flavors are amazing including sour, sweet, salty, and decadent. Biting into one of these will fulfill your sweet tooth cravings.

1—Gaston’s Tavern Cinnamon Rolls.

Gaston’s Tavern at Disney’s Magic Kingdom has, dare I say it, the best cinnamon rolls in the world. With a hint of maple flavoring, these $4 rolls will blow you away. Pro tip: Try the Lefou’s Brew and a chocolate croissant. They really hit the spot!

The One Trend I’m Absolutely Obsessed With

As someone who is obsessed with fashion and all things related, it might seem odd when I say that I’m not too keen when it comes to trends, especially ones that seem to come and go before you can even blink an eye. As much as I love to take risks with fashion, I am always continuously drawn towards classic shapes and silhouettes that feel timeless and effortless.

Fashion and how you dress day-to-day can often become somewhat of a routine; we get comfortable with dressing in a certain way and it just sticks. I’m starting to realize this more and more as I take a deeper look into my own closet. This fact is pretty evident in the evergrowing sea of black shoes I have. I always use the justification, “Well, this pair will go with everything. They’re black, after all!” Point taken and noted. I truly do have a black shoe for every occasion. But lately I’ve been craving something different and new and I’ve found myself unreasonably addicted to a trend I’ve seen all over the runways and the streets: vivid, rainbow colors incorporated into an everyday dress.

There’s something so refreshing about wearing bright colors. There is nothing quiet or humble or timid about this trend—it’s right there, in your face. It makes a statement. It has a voice and not a hushed one for that matter. It simply feels so refreshing to wear colors that emit happiness and positivity.

In this look, I styled my outfit rather simply to let all the colors do the talking. I’m wearing a straw boater hat that is the perfect addition to any outfit in the summertime. I layered my funky tunic with a black bralette that is neutral and gives some balance to the look. The perfect shoes for this look were a pair of Birkenstocks, but if I was feeling extra funky I would’ve thrown on my chunky clogs.

The summer is coming to an end but I’m going to try to incorporate more color into my looks as fall comes upon us. I simply cannot get enough of this trend. There’s something so nostalgic about the bright colors that have me yearning for a time quite before mine. The feelings and thoughts of those times are still very alive today and can be felt by wearing this bright and vivid trend that is nostalgic but in a very refreshing and relevant way.

3 Tips for Brightening Up Your Summer Wardrobe

Believe me when I say I’m the first person to want to rock an all-black ensemble. Recently, I’ve been learning to put away those dark pieces and step out of the box. While exploring with splashes of color, I’ve learned to get out of my comfort zone when it comes to fashion. Developing a habit of wearing dark and earth-toned colors can get extremely comfortable, but It’s time to switch it up a bit.

1—Figure out what color schemes you like best. When picking shades, I go for colors that work best for my skin tone to make it stand out. I went for a neon halter top. Neon colors are fun because whether you’re going to a small get-together or a festival, this summer you’ll be on-trend.

2—Find complementary pieces that go well with your brights. Of course, you can style any piece of clothing however you’d like. Pieces like medium wash skirts or shorts are my favorite things to pair with vibrant colors. I’m wearing a button-down denim skirt from H&M. I’ve been loving these skirts lately because you can style them with literally anything. In addition to these items, I wore leather cut-out boots to give this outfit an edgy flare.

3—Last but not least, accessories, of course! Okay, I have to admit, these gradient sunglasses have been my staple all summer. I wear them with everything. I’ve been noticing that this kind of colorful lens glasses has been everywhere, so I had to snag a pair. Even colorful accessories can tie a cool and colorful look together.

The Pretty Popping Comeback of Pink

Major summer trend alert: pink has officially made its comeback, after being in the background for so long. In the early 2000s, the color pink was popular exclusively in some form of a sparkly camisole and has been forever remembered to have only been pulled off “correctly” by the iconic Elle Woods. However, it has made its comeback, and there’s officially no wrong way to think pink! From fuchsia to mauve, the choices are endless, and no matter what you chose it will undoubtedly have you turning heads this summer.

Like the weather, my current personal favorite shade of pink is hot, hot, hot; though I am also a huge fan of a dusty pink as well. My fashion tip to conquering the color with confidence is to remember that pink looks great with lots of texture and depth. For this look, I am wearing a sheer, flowy off-the-shoulder top. It is studded with buttons down the middle and Swiss dots on the bodice. The off-the-shoulder sleeves and sheer texture add an extra level of boldness to the outfit, while the dots and buttons are more subtly sweet.

I chose to pair this top with a short denim skirt and chunky white platform wedges. The faded blue in the denim allows the hot pink to really shine. Black jeans also look great with lighter pinks, and white really complements burnt pink. Same goes for the shoes; I like how bright the white looks with the pink, but you can mix and match with tan or even black. With a color so versatile, it almost seems like you can’t make a wrong choice with how to wear it.

Jewelry is another fun topic when it comes to pink. Because it comes in so many shades, you can wear any of your precious metals. I am a jewelry minimalist; small earrings, rings, and maybe a dainty anklet are the most you will get out of me. So for this look, I chose light gold pieces that kept the focus on my top but still complemented it. You can add a silver or black choker for an edgier vibe or keep things classy with pearls too! Pink goes with any type of personal style. This summer’s color is here to stay so let us be pretty, pink, and powerful in every way.

Pop Some Color into Your Summertime Beauty Routine

When you think of summertime, the first thing that comes to mind is all the fun and colors that come along with our favorite season. Summer is the perfect time to experiment with bright colors and try something different with your beauty routine. Most Fashionistas love to stick with neutrals that they are comfortable with, but this Fashionista decided to step out of the bubble and be different for her summer look.

This beautiful Fashionista has a super bronzed glow to her face, which is perfect for that sun-kissed look. Since this is a warm look, the bronzer and eyeshadow are both in the warm-neutral family. To achieve this natural glow, she stuck to a liquid highlighter instead of a powder highlight. A key tip to achieving a natural glow is to mix the liquid highlighter into your foundation or to use it under your foundation. This makes it look like you’re literally glowing from within! She kept the eyes simple with just a few brown tones in the crease and outer lid. Keeping the eyes neutral allows for all attention to be on the star of the show, her bright coral-red lip.

This pop of color on the lip was inspired by her bright, multi-colored dress. The distressed denim jacket with the matching denim choker makes these bright beautiful colors stand out even more. The look in its entirety gives off vintage vibes. This is perfect for your daytime summer glam. Whether you are having yourself a day with the girls or taking a trip to the fair, this look can express your summertime style. Summer is all about fun and adventure, so don’t be scared to try something that is out there.
