3 Ways to Change Up Your Beach Day

Do you ever want to make the most of your beach day? Change up the routine a little, and enjoy a different trip to the beach? Get ready to relax and unwind on your next trip to the beach with these ideas:

1—Pick the perfect spot to gaze at. Beaches, in general, are usually packed, so finding the perfect spot could be tedious and quite difficult. So why not get a little lost? Sometimes you find the perfect spot by just looking at places you would never expect. A perfect beach spot, for example, is one overlooking the sand and waters or a spot more secluded than most. The spot I picked is right off the parking lot with a trail towards the beach.

2—Have a picnic in your trunk. Usually, I would bring down my beach mat and head over to the sand, but other days call for having rare beach picnics in the trunk of your car! Especially if the beach you’re headed to may not have much shade. Make the most of your backseat picnic with some blankets and many many pillows (you could never have too much fluff). Having a set-up like so creates the atmosphere almost one of camping and would, sure enough, add a different perspective to your beach day!

3—Relax and unwind to “moonrise” gazing. When the sun sets, there are many more places to discover and relax to. While having a beach day with some girlies, we accidentally came across the moon rising! I have not witnessed watching the moon rise before, but while sharing stories with my friends, we were in awe with the breath-taking view in front of us. Going moonrise gazing you should research where the sun sets and where the moon rises to plan out your day-long event at the beach.

Living on an island, surrounded by water I am always looking for ways to make the most of my beach day and some creative things to do! As the summer comes to an end, I want to relish most of it by relaxing and reflecting on this amazing summer with friends and family. A beach-vibe like this is perfect for bonding and for a toned down day from the rest of our hectic schedules. Here’s a cheers to a great summer!

How I Achieved the Perfect Glam Makeup Look

Picture this: you’ve been invited to a fun event and you’ve found the most stunning dress and heels. You even narrowed down your preferred hairstyle. However, after trying on the outfit, you’ve realized that you haven’t figured out what kind of makeup look will suit the occasion. Do you go for minimal and playful or daring and bold?

This is my go-to glam makeup look. I’ve created a makeup look that’s suitable for any occasion, no matter the time of day. I have brown eyes and my skin has a yellow undertone. To determine what kind of shade(s) best fit your undertones, check your veins. Look at whether they appear blue or green. If they appear blue, it means you have a cool skin tone and if they appear green, it means you have a warm skin tone. Nonetheless, anyone can rock all sorts of colors on their eyes. It’s all about what makes you feel confident!

1—Brows: I used the Elf Cosmetics Lock On Liner and Brow Cream to define my brows.

2—Eyes: The Morphe Brushes 35O Palette is my holy grail palette; it immediately caught my eye because of the beautiful mix of warm neutrals. The eyeshadows are pigmented and blend smoothly. For my eye look, it’s all about blending and packing on different shades of oranges, reds, and browns. Then, I pop a shimmery shade in the middle of the eye. If it doesn’t come out right the first time, don’t worry; that’s why there are makeup wipes. Practice makes perfect!

3—Face: I used the Aveeno Daily Moisturizer, Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water, Too Faced “Born This Way” Foundation, Tarte Cosmetics Shape Tape Concealer, Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder, Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette, Wet N’ Wild Coloricon “Apricot in the Middle” Blush, Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in “Champagne Pop,” and the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray.

This line from Too Faced has a variety of colors, so I’m sure you’re able to color match yourself. It’s a medium to full coverage and looks flawless on the face. I use a beauty sponge to apply this foundation evenly onto my skin.

4—Lashes: I used Maybelline’s Volum’ Express The Colossal Big Shot Mascara and then put on my Ardell Demi Wispies Lashes.

Ardell was the first brand I tried when it came to false eyelashes. Truthfully, I never knew why people applied falsies until the day I tried them on. This brand is great for beginners; they’re affordable and reliable.

5—Lips: I applied the Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in the shade “Lovebug.” I stumbled upon this brand on Instagram; I’ve purchased many of their products and they do not disappoint. You know you use a makeup product a lot when the labeling rubs off, am I right?

3 Ways to Stand out in White Jeans

We all have that one friend that reminds us never to wear white after Labor Day. Luckily, white jean season is among us! Every summer I invest in about two to three pairs of white jeans. A great pair of white jeans is essential to my wardrobe because year after year, the trend never seems to go out of style. White jeans can be dressed up for a Sunday brunch or dressed down for a day at the ballpark. However, I have figured out how every Fashionista can stand out in a pair of white jeans from her closet.

1—Denim topDenim tops are most certainly in style this year and are especially popular for summer holiday parties. They can also be worn to a casual event with leggings or dressed up for a fancy night out on the town. Denim tops come in all different styles and look amazing on every body shape! A denim button-down pairs great with white jeans. Any shade of denim will complement white jeans perfectly.

2—Glam shoes. This summer I ditched all of my basic tan sandals and decided to try something new. When I first laid eyes on this pair of white espadrilles it was most definitely love at first sight. I love how simple they are, yet the gold heel and fiber sole give me the chance to stand out. Espadrilles have become my go-to shoes this summer because they are stylish and comfortable. Any pair of shoes with gold embellishments or a unique sole will give you a great look with your white jeans!

3—Jewelry. My love for bracelet stacks has grown tremendously when I realized how much they can transform an outfit. Beaded bracelet stacks are versatile because you can throw them on with your swimsuit at the beach or pair them with your favorite watch. My second favorite jewelry trend this summer is bar necklaces. Bar necklaces are perfect for Fashionistas like me who enjoy simple jewelry but also want to make a statement. My gold bar necklace is embroidered with my Greek letters and has become my go-to necklace this summer. The jewelry I styled with this look is simple yet gives more life to my favorite pair of white jeans.

Your Go-To Summer Styles

Finally! The warmer days have started, and summer is approaching. The time to transition your closet to your summer styles is now. But, do you have the go-to staples that every girl should have for the summer? If you’re anything like me, your closet is filled with swing dresses, rompers and jumpsuits—to keep your outfits easy, yet fashionable.

For me, summer styles have to be comfortable, easy to throw together, and wearable for all different types of occasions. Summer is the time for a girls’ night out, going on romantic dates, and hanging out by the pool or the beach. For most of these things you can mix and match any of your go-to summer staples for the perfect outfit.

Girls’ night out

For me, a jumpsuit or a skirt with a cropped tank top are the best outfits for a night out with the girls. Just throw on a cute sandal or wedge with a few accessories and your ready for anything!

Date night

My go-to date night outfits are usually jumpsuits or swing dresses, just like this Fashionista is wearing.  These are my absolute favorite things to wear all summer, they are so easy to just put on with a cute heel and some jewelry. I always like to bring a denim jacket or an open cardigan with me, in case it gets a little cooler at night!

Beach/pool day

Whether I’m just hanging out by the pool or if I’m going to the beach for the day I always like to have something to throw on over my bathing suit. I usually just grab one of my thousands of swing dresses, or a pair of denim shorts and a tank top. Throw on a pair of sandals and sunglasses, grab your tote bag and your ready for some sun!

4 Tips for Looking Fab in a Heat Wave

When the first major heat wave of the year hits, getting dressed in the morning can feel like a drag. All I want to do is kick my feet up on the couch and enjoy the air conditioning with a lemonade in my hand. Sometimes, putting together a fashionable look can be the last thing I feel like doing. This Fashionista gave her top four tips on how she developed her go to summer look for the hot weather.

1—Find a staple dress and wear it whenever you can! Having a piece that can be dressed up or down is key in a summer wardrobe. This Fashionista came across this gorgeous dress from For Love and Lemons and finds herself styling it many different ways. She loves the way it makes her feel confident while also staying cool.

2—Add a pair of clogs for some height! When you find a pair of shoes that speak to you and it can change your entire mood for the day. This Fashionista discovered these gems at Free People and finds herself wearing them all the time. She loves the height it gives her while still being comfortable enough to walk around the city!

3—Top the outfit off with a simple handbag! This Fashionista added a vintage coach bag she found at the Fairfax Flea Market in Fairfax, Ca. This bag is one of a kind and really adds a nice touch to the outfit. An item with a story always makes for a great conversation starter!

4—Keep the jewelry elegant yet simple. Sticking to some simple and refined gold jewelry can give your look the extra sparkle it needs! This Fashionista found some gorgeous rings at Free People that have become a staple in her everyday wardrobe.

3 Tips for the Perfect Nighttime Look

We all understand the struggle of rummaging through our closets in order to find the best outfit to wear out on the town. Should I mix and match these jeans with the top I wore to work this morning? What did I wear last weekend? Been there, done that. So I have decided to share three of my Fashionista tips on how to achieve the perfect nighttime look with the items that are most likely already hanging in your closet.

1—A killer top. Choosing a cute top may be difficult to do when you feel like everybody has seen you in most of the shirts that are in your closet. However, nobody memorizes every top in your closet. Select a blouse that is flirty and fun, like this blush pink, plunging neckline top. One of the things I love about it is the silky material. By finding the perfect top, your nighttime look can be killer.

2—Statement jewels. Adding necklaces, bracelets, rings, and earrings to your outfit can transform it from boring to amazing. Sometimes, the only thing I remember about someone’s look is their statement jewels. This Fashionista paired a long and layered silver statement necklace that instantly draws your attention to her neck and face. She also added a stone ring that is to-die-for. To spice up your night look, throw on a necklace that will catch everyone’s eye.

3—Shoes, shoes, shoes. So many people will tell you that shoes can make or break a look. Add a pair of heels, chunky wedges, or a pair of sandals to your outfit that will leave you feeling confident and able to walk around all night. This look has a pair of open-toed, nude heels that are great during the day at the office but also paired with your night look.

There are so many options when it comes to styling an outfit to wear around the town. Walk into your closet like it is a store. Mix and match items that you wouldn’t normally pair together and rock it.

Cut That Crease

It is common for people to think that when they need to add some pop or flare to a look, it has to be with their outfit. However, it is possible to do the same with your makeup. It has the ability to draw the same attention, if not more. One important thing to remember when doing makeup is that you want to accentuate natural features rather than attempting to look “fake.” A foundation must match and complement your skin as well as provide full coverage, creating a clean canvas. This Fashionista is rocking the Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation. In addition, a simple, defined cut-crease eye shadow like this can draw an immense amount of attention to your eyes and helps them stand out. This can be done with any eye shadow but this look was specifically done with the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette.

Always remember that your eyebrows should also resemble a natural look. It can be easy to tweeze away to pencil-thin brows but that is now a thing of the past. It is becoming more common for individuals to want thicker, fuller brows using procedures such as microblading. This consists of reconstructing and defining the perfect brows, hair by hair, with a blade and semi-permanent dye. Luckily for this Fashionista, she was blessed with perfectly full eyebrows. In order to shape them to resemble siblings and not twins (another important eyebrow tip), the Maybelline Brow Drama Pro Palette was used.

Lastly, one big makeup trend that leaves individuals itching for more, but very impatient, is contouring. It has the ability to do wonders for some people but to those who can’t grasp the technique or simply don’t have the time, always remember that “less is more.” A slight cheek contour still has the ability to add dimension to your facial structure. This look was specifically done with Urban Decay Naked Illuminated for contour and the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Highlighter for the high points of the cheek bones.

With these helpful tips, this look is obtainable by anyone and with any makeup product. This look can be perfect for a night out with friends or even for those summer cookouts with family. Cut that crease and let those brows go.

WHAT TO WEAR: Little Black Dress and Glitter

In between all the exams and library dates, sometime a little night out is what you need to re-energize and come alive during exam season. Whether it’s just a little pub night, or a full on club night, this outfit is an awesome example of cute and casual.

On a night out, the key is to look cute but also be very comfortable in order to last all night. This Fashionista had the right idea with light layers and simple details to elevate this simple outfit.

This Fashionista pairs two trends in one with this outfit; layering with a dress and sheer tops. She layered the thin, glittery top underneath the simple little black dress rather than doing the traditional white t-shirt under the dress. This makes it a thinner layer, which is more comfortable, and the glitter adds a little energy and fun into the outfit.

Despite the fact that it’s May, it’s still quite chilly in Toronto so a light spring jacket it a must. However, carrying around a bulky jacket all night is an annoyance best avoided. This Fashionista solves this issue with this purple puffer jacket that can be folded into the size of you’re hand and neatly tucked into your purse. The foldable puffer is the ultimate night-out jacket.

In order to add a hint of color to break down the all-black outfit, this Fashionista chucks on this beautiful tan choker with silver ring. For shoes, the outfit is paired with a simple pair of black wedges to keep it comfortable.

This Fashionista demonstrates how to amp up a simple look by applying a few trends to the traditional little black dress. Simple and comfortable looks are the best choices for a night out where you want to look flawless all the way through.

BEAUTY BAR: For the Edgy Minimalist

First things first, it’s time to break some fashion rules Fashionistas. Black is back for the summer and here to stay. Want to know the best way to rock your favorite edgy look this season? Keep your makeup to a minimum. This will keep the focus off that darker color scheme and on your natural glow.

This bare-faced beauty loves trend hunting at a bargain. She opts for minimalism in her look, which she reflects through the simplicity in her makeup routine to accompany her often more edgy and sporty attire.

This Fashionista pairs her Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation base with a rose pink blush. A brushed out brow with a clear gel will leave your eyes perfectly framed for any shadow. She finished her look with a basic liner and bare lips. This Fashionista is all about making her eyes pop.

When it comes to pairing an au naturale makeup look with an all-black outfit in the hot summer weather like this Fashionista, shiftable layers and versatility is key to staying rocker chic while remaining cool under the scorching sunshine. Who needs a smudged makeup faux pas while they’re catching their well deserved summer rays? No thanks.

This Fashionista styled a halter neck black spandex dress with a quilted faux leather jacket she found for a steal online. The addition of a chunky healed bootie leaves her comfortable even into the early hours of the morning. Feeling warm? Toss your jacket to the side and your left with an equally cute outfit with some added accessories: maybe a crossbody bag or layered necklaces.

This bare-faced beauty loves switching between funky hair colors, as she views it as an accessory in itself to be experimented with. For this season she decided to join the dark side, trying out a much warmer look to her naturally dirty blonde locks. She likes to let her hair air dry with some coconut oil for added moisture and shine.

It’s time to break some rules. Summer-ready doesn’t always mean color-ready, so find the fun in playing up your dark side even in the most flexible aspects of your style. You won’t regret it.

ALL IN THE DETAILS: Lace and Leather

Lace: a delicate fabric that makes you look like anything but delicate. It’s no secret that whenever one wears lace they feel like they can take on the world. It doesn’t matter if it’s on your underwear or it’s on your corset; there’s no doubt that lace makes a girl feel fierce and empowered. What is this sorcery? I don’t know; all that I do know is that it’s the little details, such as fabric choices, that can really make or break the outfit.

I’m a firm believer that lace and leather was a match made in heaven. Leather has the same effect as lace so why not combine the two? This is when layering becomes extremely important because you want to incorporate as many empowering fabrics as you can into one outfit, right? The more the merrier!

This Fashionista added a nude bodysuit under her lace corset giving the outfit more dimension. A lace corset alone is fun as is, but adding the top underneath makes it more trendy. Remember: layering is the best way to add details to any outfit! And that’s exactly what this outfit executes when it comes to the choker options as well. The pearl choker and gold chain choker compliment each other perfectly. One is longer than the other so it seamlessly continues the layered, detailed look without overdoing it. Remember what I said earlier about leather having an authoritative, sultry feel? This Fashionista took that sultry feel to another level by adding a leather jacket to the mix.

Now because the top half of the outfit has a lot of details going on, some may shy away from details on the bottom half of the outfit. This Fashionista didn’t. Of course there are limits. For example, not to say you couldn’t do this, but adding patterned pants may be a little too extreme. However, good ol’ denim could never do you wrong. The distressed detail adds a subtle touch to the bottom half of this outfit. In fact, if you look closer, you’ll notice that the jeans have stitching detailing on the knee which is a great way to sneak in some toned down details. To complete the look, this Fashionista sealed everything with some suede booties. The little things about this outfit is what makes it fun. Details don’t always have to be scary!
