How and Why the Trendiest Girls Are Rocking Jumpsuits This Fall

With the transition into fall fashion just ahead, it’s time to discover new trends and revamp some of our summer favorites. Jumpsuits have been all the rage over the summer, seen on celebrities and Fashionistas alike. I’m a huge fan of jumpsuits because they’re so versatile and easy to wear for any occasion, but it can be a challenge to transition into styling them for cooler temperatures. Check out the two ways I came up with to wear your cutest jumpsuit this fall and find out why you should jump on the trend!

Like I said, jumpsuits are perfect for any occasion because you can style them in so many ways. This black overall jumpsuit is the perfect mix of simple and trendy and allows Fashionistas to wear whatever speaks to them under it. They’re also super easy to wear since they’re only one piece and always make you look put together and fashion-forward.

If you want to go for a more casual look, pair your jumpsuit with cute sneakers, a casual T-shirt, and some layers. Whether you’re going to class, hanging with friends, or going on a date, this look is easy and adorable while still showing your personal style. This Fashionista matched her white T-shirt with her Converse and kept it trendy by adding this embroidered denim jacket to keep warm.

If you’re going for something a little fancier, try pairing your jumpsuit with heels or wedges and some jewelry. Accessories go a long way in making a look nicer. This Fashionista paired the same black jumpsuit with a cute blouse, which gives it a nicer vibe, some fall wedges, and delicate jewelry. A simple jumpsuit can be made to look polished and even professional when styled correctly, so don’t be afraid to try it out.

No matter where you’re going, throwing on a jumpsuit is the perfect way to get there in style. They’re simple, cute, and can easily go from day-to-night. The biggest celebrities and fashion insiders have been embracing the jumpsuit trend for months now, so what are you waiting for? Style your favorite one-piece for your life and rock it!

Here Are My 3 Go-To Looks for Working at an Internship

So you landed the internship. You’re so excited for what challenges lie ahead, but one of the most difficult struggles is often overlooked: what to wear! How can you show your style and personality while still being professional?

One of the most convenient outfits for a day at the office is a jumpsuit. These can easily be styled with any kind of heel, and are a great option for days when you hit the snooze one too many times. Jumpsuits come in so many colors and styles, making it an essential staple in your professional closet. My shoes are Steve Madden and my jumpsuit is from Forever 21.

Another amazing staple in your professional closet is colored dress pants. I’ve purchased so many colored pairs of pants like these from Forever 21 so I can mix and match them with anything in my closet. While my striped pants have a thicker fabric, and may not be great for a hot summer day, there are many cuts of dress pants like these that are more breathable and practical for summer weather. I styled this look with a basic black purse and black heels. My shoes are Steve Madden and my top is another great staple piece in my wardrobe from Charlotte Russe.

The black skirt and dress shirt combo is a classic for a professional wardrobe. You can give the look a little bit of flare with a fun button-down shirt and purse. In my case, I don’t have a purse that gives the look the pop of color, but I highly recommend purchasing a red or pink bag to wear with this sometimes bland combo. All pieces in this look are from Forever 21!

As for makeup, a bold lip goes a long way. I love wearing a berry red lip with minimal eye makeup. This look is another great time-saver in the morning. I strongly believe in the “less is more” concept, but your makeup routine is completely dependent upon your personality, so don’t be afraid to experiment and wear looks that make you feel confident on the job!

Ultimately, your confidence and hustle will be the best accessories to your professional internship style. Hopefully these looks inspire you to dig deeper into your wardrobe and experiment with new professional looks!

Why You Need a Culotte Jumpsuit in Your Life

Yes, those bell-bottomed stretch pants you wore in middle school (remember gaucho pants?) are back and better than ever as culotte jumpsuits. I know Gaucho pants will forever be etched into our brains in memory of the cringy years. Don’t worry, though—this upgrade will leave you wanting a million pairs! Thankfully, with this cropped upgrade, not many people refer to them as Gauchos anymore. Let’s be honest, the “culottes” just sounds better.

This isn’t middle school any more, it’s college. This look has had time to revamp itself. Culottes aren’t only available in pants, but also multiple styles of jumpsuits like this one.

The best part about this culotte jumpsuit is that it has the flared pants, which makes it look like a dress (which is exactly why we all loved those gaucho pants when we were younger!). Also, since they’re pants, there’s no need to worry about having to change your outfit for activities or weather. This piece can handle anything.

Since it’s a jumpsuit that looks like a dress, it’s super easy to dress the look up or down. This can all be done while still looking chic and on-trend, no matter the time of day!

Dress It Down

If you want to keep your look simple and casual, pair your jumpsuit with some strappy sandals, jewelry, and metal framed shades. No need to put all your focus on accessories because the jumpsuit is the main attraction.

Dress It Up

If you want to go out with this look, throw on some ankle strap heels and shiny layered necklaces. You’ve got yourself a head-turning outfit that took no time at all. Make the look super sleek by throwing your hair up into a high pony.

Culotte Style Tip

Since summer is sadly coming to an end, that means the weather will be getting cooler. Luckily, all that needs to be added to this outfit for the next season is a jacket. In this case, a fitted jean jacket is perfect. It’s not only cute, but it makes the outfit last year-round. Choosing a more fitted jacket instead of one that’s oversized allows the jumpsuit to show off your silhouette. An oversized jacket would create a more boxy look.

How to Transition Floral Into the Fall Season

Although summer is coming to an end, floral is still very much appropriate for fall. The best way to transition floral into the fall is by wearing more toned down colors. Instead of wearing a brightly colored floral, opt for a more toned down look with darker colors. For example, try a jumpsuit for an easy, put-together outfit that doesn’t require much thinking or accessorizing.

Everyone loves dresses and rompers for spring and summer because they are easy to throw on and don’t require much thought or accessorizing. Since it tends to get a little chillier in the fall months, opt instead for a jumpsuit. It’s just as easy as a dress or romper, but it’s more weather appropriate because it’ll keep you warm yet still stylish. If it gets chillier, try adding a denim jacket!

This floral jumpsuit is perfect for fall because it’s only two colors (one is a dark purple). Although it’s floral, it doesn’t scream spring and summer. This floral also works for a fall because the pattern is large yet simple. Instead of many small flowers throughout, it is made up of larger floral designs. To me, smaller floral patterns seem overbearing and scream spring and summer, so instead opt for a larger floral pattern that is more relaxed.

As far as accessories go, keep it simple with jewelry such as a dainty necklace and stud earrings. Since jumpsuits are so bold, you don’t want to take away from it and make the outfit too busy. If it’s still warm where you are, sandals are perfect. But if it’s colder, you can even wear booties with a jumpsuit!

Jump Into the New Year

Jump right into the new school year with the perfect outfit—a jumpsuit.

Since spending my summer in South Carolina, I have found the cutest little boutique that shares my love for simple but stylish looks. There I found the perfect jumpsuit to jumpstart me right into the new year, and here I have shown you where you can find your perfect jumpsuit attire!

Start your new year perfecting your look. A jumpsuit is the best way to feel both stylish and comfortable while tackling the many duties us college students have. Having a successful school year is all about being you and feeling comfortable in your fashion. Find a jumpsuit that has a bit of flair, not just solid colors. By having a jumpsuit that has designs, you can dress it up with accessories to make it stand out even more.

Start With a Fabulous Jumpsuit

Look for patterns, prints, and a pop! These words are what you should live by when picking out your jumpsuit. Jumpsuits come in many styles and fabrics so getting more than one is totally okay and to me, highly recommended.

Choker Necklace

Neutrals will always be my favorite color scheme. Add to your fashion favorite look by adding a neutral colored choker. Though it will not pop by color it will pop by style. If you find a long choker, double it up and make a bow. This will allow for a more eye-catching accessory.

Group Bracelets

Now, tie together the entire outfit by adding the pop—grouping bracelets. Pick your favorite colors from your patterned jumpsuit and find beaded bracelets like are the same color. For my semester jumpsuit look, I decided to bring out the brightest colors since I chose neutral for my other accessories.

Small Wallet

To minimize the heavy tote bags while also lugging around a backpack, invest in a condensed size wallet. Not only can you store in away in your backpack when not in use but it will be even better if you are going out to dinner with friends. Toting a small wallet will also help with your organization because everything is all in one place.

Running Late? Get Summer-Ready in 10 Minutes (or Less)

As a busy college student, the spring-to-summer transition can always be a struggle. Whether we choose to spend our summers working at a job, an internship, or just go with the flow, we can encounter some days where we simply just don’t have the time to spend on our appearance, and since the summer is about relaxing and letting go, it’s important to develop a go-to routine for when we’re running a little late. This quick routine is sure to get you looking put together head to toe, with little to no effort. And that’s how summer beauty should be, right? Effortless. So start your timers and let’s get ready!

1—Weather-ready face. Natural looks are taking the summer beauty scene by tropical storm as a timeless look for any occasion. This includes flawlessly glowing skin, defined yet natural brows, and bright, awakened eyes. First, prep your face in a few seconds, using a cleansing wipe, followed by a moisturizing, matte primer. Using a lightweight concealer, cover any blemishes and highlight the high points of your face. Follow by spraying your entire face with setting spray before applying any face powder. This will ensure that you stay shine-free all day long. Also, going foundationless will not only save you from melting but will save your pores as well.

Now, for the eyes. Brow gels/mascaras are the quickest way to get your brows filled and sculpted while looking natural. Finish off the rest of your face by applying bronzer to the hollows of your cheeks to warm up your skin; take that same bronzer and apply it to the upper lash line. Apply blush to the apples of your cheeks, as well as to the creases of your eyes to brighten up the look. Lastly, curl your lashes to look awake, and apply any waterproof mascara (if you have time)!

Finally, the finishing touches: a creamy highlight. Add to your cheek bones, the tip of the nose, Cupid’s bow, and center of the eye lid for a natural summer glow. Add a tinted lip balm and now your face is complete!

2—Naturalized hair. Even when it’s crunch time, you have choices. Wear your hair in its natural state (as I did), to emphasize your own unique beauty, or simply throw it up in an intentionally messy bun or ponytail while still making the look your own. This should take no time at all, and all you have left to do is get dressed!

3—All-in-one outfit. With only a few minutes to spare, you need something that slips right on and can be worn anywhere, anytime. A romper or a jumpsuit is perfect for this; you can easily dress it up, (or down) and have a full outfit in just a few seconds. Match with some slip-on shoes and a shoulder bag, and now you can finally get out the door.

For those of us who are constantly running behind on time, this routine can have you spending less time in the mirror and more time enjoying a blissfully radiant summer!

The Guide to Summer Intern Wear

For most college students, summer months are not just filled with beach resorts, pool parties, and barbecues. Rather, there is an added stress to obtain a top-notch internship—one that will provide us with work experience and pave the way towards our future careers. Once given this opportunity, there is always a concern about what to wear. Not knowing your future coworkers or the way they dress may pose to be a problem for some, but don’t fret! This Fashionista has come up with three easy and trendy outfit choices that will allow you to dress to impress on your first day, no matter where you end up working.

1—The DIY jumpsuit. Anyone can agree that wearing a jumpsuit to work will leave you looking chic and sophisticated. However, jumpsuits are sometimes expensive and hard to find. This Fashionista pulls off her own DIY jumpsuit by choosing to wear a simple black spaghetti-strap blouse, tucked into her black slacks. The key to this inventive look is to make sure the colors of your top and bottom are the same shade so that the outfit is uniform for the “jumpsuit-like” look. To make an impression, she has also added a long tasseled silver statement necklace and complemented the outfit with a pair of black chunky sandals.

2—The blazer. Opting for a more “smart-casual” look? This Fashionista pairs her go-to black pants and chunky sandals with a crisp white spaghetti-strap blouse, adding a gray cotton blazer on top. To add a pop of color to the outfit, she decides to wear a turquoise rectangular-shaped statement necklace. Picking out the perfect necklace is central to emulating this look; the addition of this single accessory will immediately transform your ensemble from basic to elegant.

3—The floral dress. Floral prints are always a summer staple, so why not integrate the pattern into your internship attire? This Fashionista chooses to wear a red, black, and white rose printed dress, a cold shoulder style that is accented with delicate black lace along the collarbone. The secret to pulling off any dress at work is in the length; always make sure it is not too short and you will be good to go!

Why I Love Jumpsuits This Summer

Summer can be a challenging time when putting together the perfect outfit. Especially one that is both pretty and practical in the heat. There is no other article of clothing that makes getting ready in the summer easier than pulling on a jumpsuit! Jumpsuits have definitely been my go-to outfit this summer for every occasion, and I think you’ll understand why.

Jumpsuits come in different styles, making them a necessary addition to every wardrobe this year! The lightweight and loose fabric make for a perfect summer outfit. Throwing on a jumpsuit is such a fool-proof, adorable outfit. They make for effortless dressing up or dressing down.

Jumpsuits are found in many different fashion outlets. I have seen them on high fashion runways, to Internet blog posts. Wearing a jumpsuit is such a simple summer staple, yet you are able to remain sophisticated and stylish.

The specific jumpsuit that I am wearing I found at one of my absolute favorite stores: Nordstrom Rack. Jumpsuits, especially cropped ones, can be found anywhere. I love this one in particular because of how breathable it is for summer. I can also throw on a sweater or jean jacket for chilly evenings. The shoes I am wearing here are just simple sandals that I found at Target. Other accessories that I am wearing include a necklace, bracelets, and some rings. Jumpsuits are versatile, making it easy to personalize your outfit with shoes and accessories. I hope this encouraged you to add a jumpsuit to your closet.

How to Keep Cool in the Office

As summer progresses, the days get sunnier and the temperatures get hotter. What almost always goes hand-in-hand with this process is the struggle to figure out what to wear to your internship or job when the temperature is pushing upwards of 90 degrees.

You know you can’t go for the cute spaghetti strap dress and sandals like you want to, but you don’t want to sweat through your thought-out outfit five seconds after walking outside. So, what do you do?

You buy a jumpsuit, of course.

This Fashionista is the perfect example of how to keep yourself cool while still looking cool for work. Her look is the perfect amount of trendy, classy, cool, and seasonal. When you look at her outfit, it’s far from the skimpy looks most people have in mind when they think of summer clothing.

The jumpsuit is incredibly flattering and the chambray can be paired with any and everything. She chose to pair it with a tan Tory Burch crossbody, as well as some tan slides and gold hoops. All come together to form a neutral summer look, without being boring.

Having the pants of the jumpsuit fall just above the ankle not only keeps her cool but keeps her on-trend with the cropped hemline. Since the straps of the jumpsuit are a little thicker, this makes it a perfect choice for the office. Not to mention you can stay cool while lunching in the park, but can still throw on a cute sweater or jacket when you re-enter the frozen tundra that is an office space in the summertime.

One of the best parts about this office-friendly look is how versatile it is. You can take it from office to brunch, from summer to winter all with the addition or subtraction of a few key accessories. Plus, it requires little to no effort to pull this look together in the morning when you’re trying to remember your keys, coffee, purse, and lunch, all while attempting to put together a great outfit.

A nine-to-five may be draining sometimes, but don’t let picking out your outfit be a part of that. Keep it simple and always remember there’s a way to stay cute and classy without roasting in the New York summer heat.

5 Road Trip Essentials—Fashionista Edition

I’ve become a road trip queen after four years of driving from the Midwest to the East Coast and exhausting 13-hour journeys. Luckily for you, I’ve broken down rest stops and gas stations to a science. Sleeping in small spaces has become my specialty. Recognizing license plates from different states is a breeze. I’m here to share with you some of my road trip wisdom.

1—Entertainment. When I first started traveling, I was so nervous that I would become bored that I packed every form of entertainment imaginable. Even though 13 hours seems like a long time, it really goes by quicker than you’d imagine. Avoid overpacking, since you’re going to be confined to a small space for a long time. Now, I just bring a good book and my phone. The rest of the time I spend sleeping, talking to my family, or scenery watching.

2—Healthy snacks. A healthy snack goes a long way, and trust me, fresh fruits and vegetables will cost you an arm and a leg at rest stops. Gas stations will tempt you with junk food that will leave you feeling foggy and cause breakouts or bloating. Packing fresh fruits and veggies and bringing a reusable water bottle will save you money while keeping you feeling refreshed.

3—Sleepwear. The best way to kill time is to take a nap. I know all you Fashionistas are always super busy dominating the world, so why not take this time to catch up on some beauty rest? Some people like the traveler’s pillow that goes around the neck, but I like to bring a big plush pillow that I can lean against the window. A sleeping mask will block out the harsh sun, and a good pair of earbuds can block out any unwanted music. Ditch the bulky headphones that make it harder to rest your head.

4—Makeup and moisturizer. I never wear makeup during a road trip because it can get greasy and smudgy. Instead, I pack a small makeup pouch with my essentials that I apply right before I make it to my destination. It includes eyeliner, mascara, a blush and highlighter duo, a small bottle of perfume, and tinted lip balm. Before the ride, I like to apply a good coat of moisturizer to keep my skin because the air conditioning can be harsh and drying.

5—The perfect outfitI am a firm believer that you never have to give up style for comfort. It is completely possible for those to go hand in hand! I chose this super chic jumpsuit that makes me look put together. The lightweight fabric is breathable and super comfortable. Avoid anything that is too tight or wrinkles easily. I paired my jumpsuit with sandals from Kensie and a cute tote that’s big enough for all my essentials.
