TREND: Army Green

If you love to showcase neutrals throughout your outfit, but get tired of wearing the same drab shade of black, opt for the trendy hue of army green. The trend of army green was first introduced last spring printed in the pages of popular fashion magazines, displayed on the runways during New York Fashion Week and has been growing rapidly ever since, finally arriving here at Indiana University.

I spotted this Fashoinista immediately, admiring her military inspired jacket in the hue of army green over a plaid blouse in a similar shade. She breaks up the army green with her denim skinny jeans and brown riding boots making her ensemble look stylish yet balanced. Wearing chunky gold jewelry like this Fashionista is not only the perfect pairing to break up the neutral shade, but is also a great way to accessorize your army green.

Adding army green to your wardrobe is easy and can be adapted to any Fashionista’s personal style. Some may be drawn to military inspired pieces in the shade like the leather bomber jacket or cargo pants, but army green doesn’t have to mean your look has to be ready for the battlefield. There are many pieces out there that are more fitted, but still follow the trend, for those who prefer a more feminine silhouette.

Hint: Unlike black, this is a color you should not wear head to toe. Instead pick one key piece in army green and leave the rest of your outfit’s color palette in other neutrals. The neutral shades of black, brown and khaki look best paired with a chic army green blouse or a tailored trench.
