TREND: Back to School Spirit

As summer finally comes to a close and students are heading back to school, everyone on campus is getting into school spirit. However with the craziness of hectic schedules, early classes and homework, it’s easy to fall into a fashion rut. Many people think school spirit can only be expressed by wearing a logo sweatshirt or school sweats. There are many ways to show school pride that don’t involve hoodies.

This Fashionista is wearing the perfect example of an outfit that incorporates our U of O colors (green and yellow) in a fashionable and classic way. The girl here makes good use of layering by pairing staple items that most people already have hanging in their closet. She has layered a green cotton tee over a white cami to give visual interest and depth to the outfit. She added a bracelet length cardigan in a sunny yellow that looks great in contrast to the shade of the green tee. She then completed the look with a dark wash jean that she cuffed to show off her adorable yet comfortable Sperry flats. To add a fun final touch, she’s wearing a Tiffany’s-style “O” necklace to show her support for the U of O. This look not only exudes school spirit but looks effortlessly fashionable and casually chic.

Hint: To achieve a look similar to this one and show your school spirit, try wearing your school colors in classic pieces to keep your look fashion-forward. Try pairing a simple cardigan, like the one here, which comes in many colors, with a contrasting top underneath. The tank tops you can find here at American Apparel come in many colors and styles. For accessories, try checking out your campus bookstore to see what kinds of fun things they might carry. This outfit could easily be worn around campus to your classes or to a football game. If the weather turns bad, as we here in Oregon are all used to, try adding a cute raincoat in school colors and a nice pair of rain boots to keep you dry on those wet days.
