TREND: Be Fashion Week Friendly

Throughout the year clothing and accessory designers work to produce and deliver the hottest looks to the fashion industry. And only taking place twice each year, Fashion Week is all about bringing their visions to the general public, showcasing the future trends and the most impressive collections. It seems impossible, though, to strut across campus in a runway-worthy outfit without receiving countless looks and feeling ridiculous. This might be true, but you can still incorporate the runway into your everyday wardrobe without the ridicule.

Take notes from this Fashionista. She dons a mixture of styles, by simply adding touches of Fashion Week to her ensemble. By combining the feminine and the masculine, the florals and the military, she doesn’t have to commit to one trend. In fact, she uses this contrast in her favor, creating a look all her own. She layers the light chiffon dress with an army green vest to give it a more structural, edgy vibe, while her ruched sleeves add a bit of volume without the outdated magnitude of shoulder pads. Finally, her woven leather flats bring the nude trend into play and make a perfect understated addition to the outfit.

Hint: So, when you’re watching the BCBG Max Azria show, and you see this exquisite lace dress float down the runway, try pairing a lace tunic on top of a cami for a similar, but toned-down look. Likewise, if you love the oversized flowers on all of the Marc Jacobs models, you might want to purchase a flower headband for the same effect.
