TREND: Blazers in the Summer

Heat or no heat, the blazer trend never seems to fail. Whether it's to work, a nice dinner, or just a barbeque with friends, I always like to have something to cover up in, just in case. In the winter months I tend to sport a heavy dark grey or black cotton blazer, but the summer allows for so much more variety! White blazers, in particular, catch my eye on the streets of New York, as Fashionista's compliment them with great, bright prints and bold accessories, like this fabulous silver Picasso necklace (on sale!) that I absolutely adore. In the summer, bright colors are a must, so I often find turquoise to be a great color to flatter your white blazer. Yet, any light color works in the hot months, as long as it's light and not too sun-absorbant. I love how this Fashionista mixes a light grey cotton blazer with her bright floral prints. The grey is so versatile and it lightens up the darker shades on her shirt and skirt. I've never been too big of a fan of matchy-matchy outfits, so this Fashionista's use of a different tone to spice up the black works perfectly. I know I'd love to wear something bright like her skirt and mix it with something a bit more toned down like her black and grey combination on top.

Hint: Although I love the skirt-blazer mix, for a less conservative look, opt for a cute pair of printed shorts and some cute strappy sandals.
