TREND: Boat Shoes

When it rains, it pours. However, in Boston, you can never really tell what the weather will be by the time you get out of class. It is better to be safe than sorry. Wearing weather-appropriate shoes is a must. Nothing is worse than wearing suede ballet flats to class and getting caught in the rain. Rain boots are the go-to staple, but can look a little silly when the sun comes out in the middle of the day. What is the stylish solution? Boat shoes. Keeping up with the preppy trend this season, boat shoes are cute and functional. Since they are made to be worn on a boat, they are fantastic for when it rains. Less discreet than large rain boots, boat shoes go well will everything. One of the most popular boat shoes are of course the Sperry Top-Sliders. This Fashionista keeps it cool in a pair of tan Top-Sliders and jeans. With the fall breeze getting stronger, her cute grandpa sweater keeps her warm. The tan is a great neutral that can be worn in both the summer and fall. Worn with skinny jeans or even shorts on those random warm days, they will look fashionable. While running in puddles is still probably not the best idea, why not splash in one every once in awhile? No need to worry when wearing boat shoes – they are used to it.

Hint: Sperry Top-Slider and Sebago both have some great styles. Sebago has more traditional ones, while Sperry has a few unconventional ones as well. If you want your shoes to make a statement, look no further than hot pink patent top-sliders with barrel-acing. Sperry also has a boat shoe called the Rockstar, which has some stud detailing. Let’s go step out in the rain this season with beautifully waterproofed shoes on our feet.
