TREND: Bright and Bold for the Snow and Cold

For the most part, this November was unseasonably warm by Boston standards. I found this Fashionista wandering the streets of Beantown sans jacket, but with tons of style to make up for her lack of outerwear.

Her bright tunic top looks effortless paired with her favorite skinny jeans and classic brown leather boots. However, it is now December. Jacketless days are officially over. While I will undoubtedly break out my thigh-length army green North Face parka with a fur trimmed hood (solely for the sake of warmth, obviously!), there is a brighter way to do winter wear.

If you look out your window in the morning and see a sheet of snow blanketing all of Comm Ave, you will probably be tempted to crawl right back under a blanket of your own. However, if you opt for a bold-hued winter jacket, your entire day will brighten up – the snow and freezing weather won’t seem so bad. If you want to go for a peppy yet sporty look, try this fire-engine red DKNY puffer jacket. If you want to be more sleek and sophisticated, this St. John Yellow Label orange pea coat will do the trick.

If you would rather your jacket be of a more subdued hue, you can still inject color into your ensemble by way of accessories. Try a bright beanie paired with a playful tribal print scarf, and choose colors that contrast with your hair and skin tone. Brunettes, opt for blistering reds and oranges, and blonds, go for bright blues and greens.

Don’t let your jacket put a damper on your day: suiting up in bright outerwear will make this winter bearable.
