TREND: Chic & Chambray

This summer, the sturdy and timeless fabric know as chambray has put a new spin on the term "blue collar." Originally a fabric used for workmen's shirts, chambray became iconic to the world of fashion during the 1980's and 90's. This summer, the fabric makes for a perfect lightweight and cool summer shirt. Famously constructed from cotton, this plain weave material will allow you to feel polished and not too hot and sticky. Choosing a size or two bigger than what you actually need is becoming the norm for shirts and blouses as of late, and over-sizing your chambray shirt is definitely the key to the perfect silhouette. Pair the men’s Gap version with leggings, tights or try the American Apparel shirt dress version and pull it in at the waist with a belt. A pair of heels or gladiator sandals and the perfect handbag can pull the outfit together and bring it up to date. This Fashionista tucked hers in at the front, revealing a chunky belt and gray destroyed denim shorts. Layered denim is a reoccurring trend, and the chambray shirt is a safe way to pull off that look without feeling too “matchy matchy!”
