TREND: Color Obsession

Whether it is in the form of a blazer, bag, pants, anything – camel has definitely been the color of the season. With multiple websites featuring various pieces in camel, such as Reiss online, with an entire page of camel colored items, it is only one of many examples of camel’s massive breakthrough this season. Even with the start of a new year, it is still winter and sadly not yet time to branch out into the bright “it” colors of 2011. However, camel is a breath of fresh air when added to an all black outfit – like in this Fashionista's ensemble. All black, to me, will always look chic and (usually) effortlessly stylish, but adding even just one piece of camel clothing can update the look. This loosely fitting blazer is a perfect way to top off this Fashionista’s outfit;  it even ties in with the brown tones in her bag. That leads me to another great point about camel – it allows you to branch out and wear brown with black without it contrasting too much.

The beauty about this outfit is that when the weather is extremely cold, this Fashionista can easily throw a peacoat over her blazer for an extra layer of warmth, or on the other hand, if it is on the warmer side, she can layer a lightweight cardigan underneath the blazer and pair it with a warm scarf. Either way, the blazer is the main aspect of her outfit. Though none of her other pieces take away from the blazer’s effect, she finished her outfit off with a good step – literally – by adding simple, yet classic, leather ankle boots, bringing everything together for a polished look.

Hint: Camel outerwear has prevailed this winter, becoming as widely worn as black. Try to branch out from the generic coat and experiment with this camel cape from Topshop. Or choose from many of Reiss’s camel pieces to find out which will suit you the best.
