TREND: Good Old Red, White, and Blue

With the Fourth of July holiday weekend just around the corner, it is best celebrated parade watching, grilling outdoors, and my personal favorite, the sound of crackling fireworks in the night sky. While, yes, wearing red, white and blue throughout the year is completely acceptable, Independence Day is one of the best days to show our love for the USA. Year after year, many go all out in showing their patriotism with temporary tattoos, body paint, hair spray, stickers, etc, which is not, and I mean NOT mandatory. Just because the Fourth of July is surrounded by various casual outdoor activities, it does not mean that fashion should be thrown out the window. Take this Fashionista for example, she kept her look simple, yet festive by wearing a high waisted skirt in blue, a white ruffle bib tank top, and a red cropped cardigan to keep the mosquitos away. And to top it off, this Fashionista's red shoes and bird necklace, which she bought while studying abroad in Roma, are to die for.

Hint: Stay away from the typical "cheesy" Fourth of July clothing, but rather incorporate your red, white and blue wear with other elements that are uniquely your own.

Although we can't jet off to Italy, the Flying Birds Necklace from Asos is a great find that adds personality to any outfit and is especially great for this upcoming weekend.

I highly suggest trying the Cooperative Canvas Wedge, and the Scarlet & Crimson Wedge for a great shoe to incorporate into your look.

If you're looking for a transitional skirt, try the Belted Pleated Skirt in blue, from the Gap and pair it with the Leifsdottir scoop tank in white.

Consider the Short Sleeve V-Neck Cardigan in red from Ann Taylor Loft, for the perfect last minute cardigan.

Enjoy celebrating the holiday weekend in style!
