TREND: Graphic Tee’s for You and Me

I personally believe that graphic and vintage T-shirts will always be a go-to item for casual wear. There's something about their somewhat grungy, relaxed, fun, and overall cool attitude that has continued to make them a wardrobe staple year after year. Because GWU style tends to be so up-to-date on fashion trends, how frequently I stumble upon Fashionistas and Fashionistos meandering through Foggy Bottom sporting graphic or vintage T-shirts doesn't surprise me.

This Fashionista expertly displays the effortlessly fashionable, ever-popular graphic T-shirt trend that's so loved by many (myself included). This Fashionista sports an oversized, navy-colored graphic T-shirt with white images and lettering, a great pair of dark-wash skinnies, and Minnetonka moccasins. With her outfit, this Fashionista wears little jewelry, basic Ray-Ban sunglasses, and a black Alexander Wang cross-body hobo that's embellished with zippers and small, external compartments. Her minimal use of accompanying accessories diverts almost all attention to her shirt; had she worn more (or bolder) accessories, her look would have been too busy. I simply adore this Fashionista's style, and I am impressed by how well she sports this trend.

Hint: Urban Outfitters has always been my go-to store for graphic T-shirts because they have an enormous selection. For vintage T-shirts, try Annie Creamcheese in Georgetown because they have racks and racks of old-school pieces. When purchasing a graphic or vintage T-shirt, I recommend buying a size larger than you would normally wear. Why? Shirts like these are often made of cotton which will easily shrink in the wash, and I also think these T-shirts look better when they're worn a bit loose.
