TREND: Greetings From Korea

Freezing weather, frostbitten noses and frequent snowfalls. Sounds like Boston, right? Well, I'm home in the Republic of Korea (aka the motherland for winter break) and a wardrobe change is not in order. Why?, do you ask. Because Korea has almost the exact same weather as Boston. What isn't exactly the same however, are the styles and popular trends on the street.

As you can see, this Fashionista has bundled up from head to toe. Although UGG boots are a tad out of style, most of the people on the streets of Korea still wear them more for warmth than trendiness. A great way to jazz up your outfit is by trading in your classic UGGs with these new Jimmy Choo UGGs – a solution for both warmth and style.

Now on to the main event: the cape coat. This Fashionista's outfit is centered around her coat, a coat with a unique design that's not just fashion savvy, but climate savvy as well. Cape coats can come in a variety of designs but this particular Salvatore Ferragamo Camel Wool Cape Coat should be on top of your wish list. For a more affordable option, this coat from Top Shop is also a must-have item this winter. Warm and trendy, this cape coat is chic enough to stand on its own. Since these coats have fine detail and flair, there's no excess hassle when trying to accessorize. Wearing the basic winter essentials like gloves and a scarf, like this Fashionista did, is plenty. If just the coat isn't enough, the bag should be the area where you concentrate your energy on. Brands and labels like Louis Vuitton and Gucci are big in Korea, as this Fashionista's choice of bag shows. However if you want to keep from stealing the limelight on your fabulous coat while still looking chic, this Marc Jacobs Bag might do just that.

This winter is going to be a cold one, fellow Fashionistas/os. The good news however, is that there are many options when bundling up and staying warm. So have fun with your outfits and don't be afraid to take a risk and buy something new. A cape coat might be the missing item in your closet this season, and I'll look forward to see this item in Boston.
